Favorite Send to FastDrawThe University of Virginia ran this to get a lob dunk versus a zone defense. The 2 slice cut through the lane and got the pass from 1 who quickly continued to reverse the ball to 3 on the left wing. The 3 then reverses course with the ball ultimately sending it back to the 1. The 4 and 5 on the baseline interchanged and set back screens on the bottom of the zone. The exchange made it tough for the zone to realize they were being screened and fight through. The 1 threw the ball up to 3 at the rim for the lob over the zone. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a nice zone quick hitter from A&M that overloads the left side of the floor. The Aggies then cut a guard into the lane and screen the bottom zone defenders opening up the 5 man near the block. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIf you are looking for a play to get you an open 3-point field goal, this play, if ran correctly, should get you a great look at the basket (with rebounders in place to keep the possession alive). As the PG passes to the 4, we like the 3 to "play with" the corner defender, try to occupy his attention as much as possible, so we can get the top ball-side defender to pick up the ball off the initial pass. After passing the ball, the PG will flash like he is making a ball-side corner cut (which is a great way to get a quick entry into the post) but instead, will fill the opposite corner. The help defender on the top will naturally sink and fall towards the mid-line. Once the PG has cleared the lane, we want our 3 to cut to the top of the key. As he is cutting, we would like to have the 5 roll over and set a screen on x1. This is all about timing! If the 3 can catch the ball right as the 5 is setting the screen, we are in business. Now, we have the defense right where we want them. As the 3 catches, he immediately attacks DOWNHILL! Do not let the 3 float/dribble outside of the lane. The goal is to get x5 to step up or x4 to step in. Either way, we have the numbers in our favor. Now, we have the options we want. If the x4 steps up, the 3 immediately needs to pass the ball (what we call a hot read) to either the 1 or the 2. If x4 stays low and x5 defends the penetration (which is what we ultimately want), the 3 needs to pass the ball to the 2. If x4 closes out hard on the 2 and he cannot get the shot, then the 2 needs to make the extra pass to the 1 in the corner (where there is no defense). The 4 and the 5 need to crash hard for the rebound. The 3 should be in position in case the shot attempt is short. See More

Favorite Send to FastDraw"Under" looks to give you several different scoring options out of one play against a triange and 2 defense. The initial alignment is a 1-4 high with one of your guarded players at the point and the other at either the left or right-wing. The play starts with a pass to the high post player on the same sided as the other player being guarded man to man. The post catches and faces while strong side elbow and wing player set a double flare screen for the point guard for a potential quick shot. If the shot is not there the 3 player flashes to the block for potential low post pass if bottom triangle defender comes out. The 5 player then sprints to the wing for a PNR while the 2 and 4 player set a weak side double screen for the 3 man. The point guard comes off the PNR and looks to score, hit the post rolling or 3 player along the baseline. Once the 3 player catches along the baseline, the 4 man slides to mid post and the 2 man continues cut and sets a screen on the bottom defender bringing the 5 man right "under" the basket for a score. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this zone quick hitter, 1 dribbles left as 3 runs the baseline to the opposite corner. 5 screens the bottom zone defender on 3's side. Once 3 gets to the corner, 2 cuts to the rim and 1 passes to 3. 3 dribbles up from the corner as 4 screens the inside defender and 2 screens the low defender on the opposite side. 5 slips around the screens to the block. If 5 isn't open, 5 screens in for 2 who cuts to the corner for a shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a quick hitter that the San Antonio Spurs ran throughout the 4th quarter against the LA Clippers in Game 7. Like every Spurs play... Very tough to guard because of their all around shooting ability along with their great spacing. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawSome early offense that could easily be implemented at the high school level, especially if you have an kid who rebounds and slashes well. The first option of course would be to let that player have one side of the court to attack early and often. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWith 1 minute remaining in the first half, Cincinnati runs this quick hitter and scores off of the cross screen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a quick hitter that BYU used in their NCAA First Round matchup with Ole Miss to get an easy midrange jumper for Haws, one of their best shooters. Against a 2-guard front, the Ole Miss 1-3-1 zone mimics a 2-3 zone. Here the 4 man passes and cuts hard to the block off of the screen from the 5 man. This forces x5 to pick up the cut to the post. The 5 man turns and sets a quick downscreen for the 1, who flashes to the free throw line. This quick action creates confusion between x4 and x2 and results in an easy look for a great shooter. Favorite Send to FastDrawNCAA First Four set from the Ole Miss Rebels. Andy Kennedy used this as the opening set of the Rebels First Four game vs. BYU. This simple 2 action set uses a set of stagger screens to free up half of the floor for ball screen action with the point guard. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawCoach Shaka Smart has his VCU Rams (21-6, 11-3) and they are better prepared for any A-10 opponent. Here is a special zone offense play that they run. Havoc Pressure Defense is what Shaka Smart is known for. Execution is what I know Shaka Smart for. The first diagram is "Special" which is a zone quick hitter. The 2nd and 3 diagrams are the "Weave" Play zone set play. If you like this Shaka Smart Zone Offense Play then check out our website: Men's Basketball Hoop Scoop. See More
