Basketball Play - Cincinnati Stack SLOB

Cincinnati Stack SLOB

David Taylor 03/24/2015

Cincinatti ran this play after Purdue turned over the ball late in the second half. It is important that the second cutter curls around the screen shoulder to shoulder. Cincinatti successfully ran this and scored an AND1 off 2's cut - cutting Purdue's lead to 3 with 41.5 seconds remaining. See More

Basketball Play - Kansas - SLOB Iverson Lob

Kansas - SLOB Iverson Lob

Matt Wheeler 03/24/2017

Kansas finished off a run with this SLOB play in their sweet sixteen game against Purdue. 1 makes a zipper cut to receive the inbounds pass from 4. 4 makes an Iverson cut off of screens from 3 & 5. Once x4 curls over the top of 5, x5 has to provide help at the rim. In this play he didn't and 4 was able to get the lob dunk. Another key is 1 selling the Iverson cut for 4 by following him with the dribble. 1 cuts back before the cut to the rim to set up a better passing angle. See More

Basketball Play - Tennessee Volunteers - Half Court Timeout

Tennessee Volunteers - Half Court Timeout

Matt Wheeler 03/29/2019

Tennessee had to go the length of the floor for a basket with 1.7 seconds left, with the game tied against Purdue in the Sweet Sixteen. The Volunteers opted to use this play to get the ball quickly to halfcourt so they could call a timeout and run a sideline out-of-bounds play for the win. It took a little too long to run (1.6 seconds) which left them with only 0.1 seconds left on the clock for their next play. Great situational play that would probably would need at least 3 seconds to run it to be safe. See More

Basketball Play - Michigan State Spartans - L Option Post Up

Michigan State Spartans - L Option Post Up

Cody Cohen 05/22/2019

When looking for coaches who run great sets to get the ball into the post, there are two coahces that are at the top of that list: Tom Izzo and Matt Painter. Both historically have had great post players that have been viable options offensivley for their teams. In the first play of the game after the game between Michigan State and Purdue from this past season, Tom Izzo runs this set to get arguably his two best players involved in the same action with Nick Ward and Cassius Winston. The primary option is to get the ball into Ward on the low block. The defense is also kept honest because the point guard has the option to come off a pin down from the 4 or come off the 5's baseline screen and look to enter the ball into the post. This set is great option in terms of keeping your best players involved in the same action, while creating oppurtunities to get the ball in the low post should that be one of the better options for your team. See the first clip of the game in video below. See More
