Favorite Send to FastDrawQuick hitter by coach Rick Carlisle for an open perimeter shot. Center should call "pick" in order to baffle the defense and suddenly change direction (slip) to set the wide pin down screen for 3. View Plays of the Week - Unlocking the NBA's Top Offense! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWith Nick Nurse taking over as the Head Coach of the Toronto Raptors for the 2018-19 season, he introduced a myriad of new plays and actions to the offense that he reportedly had a significant influence over during Dwane Casey's previous tenure. This play, loosely out of Horns formation, leverages the unique skillset of Toronto's emerging star in Pascal Siakam. By creating a large gap for Siakam to attack the closeout, and clearly scripting the play in a manner that Siakam is instructed to make the catch "on the run," Toronto has been able to score effectively on this simple action. Favorite Send to FastDrawLoop cuts - also known as Iverson cuts - are a great way to shift a defense. Creating a shift followed by a counter flow can often lead to an open look. This set will almost always get you a low post catch when needed. In the video below, the ball is fed into the post from the slot. in MOST scenarios, I like the ball reversed to the lift which creates a much better angle for a post feed. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw1 dribbles toward 2 who zipper cuts up the slot. 5 downs creens for 2. 2 ball screens 1 and then uses flare screen from 5. 4 down screens 3. If flare isn't open, 1 and 3 DHO as 5 sprints to ball screen 3. 3 uses ball screen, 5 rolls and 1 lifts behind the roller. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawMilwaukee Bucks' head coach Mike Budenholzer runs this play to exploit Giannis Antetokounmpo's roll to the basket in an empty side or his shooters coming off a down screen at the top. In case defenders switch on the side pick, offense should target the mismatch situation inside (Antetokounmpo vs any point guard). Center should flash to the ball after setting the down screen and look inside if defenders switch (another mismatch option). Click for more Pick and Roll plays! See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a play that has many moving parts, and is great for a team that loves setting screens. The Lakers used this to get an open look for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. It starts with what looks like a basic pick and roll with LeBron James and Tyson Chandler. Then, Chandler turns his roll into an elevator screen for Caldwell-Pope, who then executes a give-and-go with James into an off-ball screen and flare screen that opens up a 3pt opportunity on the catch. For this to work, you need guards and forwards willing to sacrifice their bodies to make plays. It pays off, even if the spacing can get wonky at times. Also as a note: you don't necessarily need a "LeBron James" to make this play work. The 1 and the 3 are easily interchangeable. James just happened to be playing the 3 when he was the ball-handler on this play. Click for more plays and drills from Matt Barnthouse! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawInstead of making a full Iverson cut to left wing, 2 stops and sets a ball screen for 1 in these two options. On the FMS blog: MoraBance Andorra - Early Offense and Half Court Series See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Denver Nuggets took advantage of their versatile lineup on this play during a 117-85 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on November 27th. It takes principles of a basic "pass and cut" motion offense, along with dribble penetration and pick and roll concepts. It starts out with passes and cuts, but then Jamal Murray (1) cuts back while Nikola Jokic (5) screens, starting a pick and roll action off after Murray receives a pass from Paul Millsap (3). This confuses the Lakers defense, which does not switch, and LeBron James, who is defending 4, is late on the rotation leading to a layup for Murray. The advantage of having bigs that can shoot is that if LeBron rotated earlier, Murray could've passed to either Juan Hernangomez (4) or Malik Beasley (2) in the corner for a catch and shoot opportunity. Sharing the ball forces the defenders to make decisions. The more decisions that have to be made, the more chances for an error that an offense can take care of. Having versatile players like the Nuggets do makes those defensive decisions so much tougher (do I stay on my guy and perhaps leave him open for a 3? Do I help?), which can often lead to these late rotations and result in buckets. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a very simple yet effective set to get your point guard and big in a middle ball screen using some false motion. The essence of good offense is get two guarding one, and attack the advantage and this set does that extremely quickly. Check out the video below! FMS Blog: Maui Invitational - Top 10 Plays See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is an incredibly hard set to guard. Great action leading to an empty middle ball screen and if 1's defender is tagging the pick and roll like he should be, 1 will either be open on the throwback or 5 will be wide open at the rim. See the video below. Highly recommend watching Coach Few's teams play with scratch paper handy or FastDraw open! FMS Blog: Maui Invitational - Top 10 Plays See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is one of my all time favorite sets! There are several looks that Gonzaga bypasses in favor of the post up. This set when run fully has a guard mismatch post up opportunity, lob look, stretch post 3, double pin downs for shooters, seal post ups for those screeners, and then ball screen with throwback action. See these options in the video below. I highly recommend adding this set to your playbook.
