Favorite Send to FastDrawWith the addition of Marc Gasol's playmaking ability, Nick Nurse has reintroduced the "Elbow" series into the Toronto Raptors playbook in the 2018-19 season. Popularized by Rick Adelman as the Corner Offense, this set allows the Raptors to utilize their versatile personnel, such as Pascal Siakam and Kyle Lowry, in inteerchangeable roles as passers, cutters, and pick and roll ball handlers. Often times ran at the end of games, this set allows Nick Nurse to involve all of high star players at once. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play, a staple of the San Antonio Spurs offense for years, has become a pet-play of Nick Nurse’s to start the game or half. Put into the Raptors playbook in the middle of the season, this play is used for Kawhi Leonard, Pascal Siakam, and Marc Gasol to get a post touch. The first option is for a post-up to score, but the second option/counter involves a kickout pass to leverage aggressive off-ball defense against itself. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawFenerbahce ran this quick hitter after a broken beginning to a possession, which started with the same flat ball screen action against ZVVZ USK Praha's ice ball screen coverage. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw3 cross screens 5 to catch a lob at the corner of the weak side backboard. 4 cross screens 2 towards the ball. 2 sprints off of a screen by 4 who looks to slip to the basket. 1 takes a few steps onto the floor before using a flare screen to the corner. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great set to get Culver in space with a side pick and roll with the big sprinting from the stagger and hopefully arriving alone. Great spacing and great setup for their Twins Gate counter that is in my playbank as well. National Championship Game Preview: Texas Tech and Virginia XsOs See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great counter to their double stagger side pick & roll set you can find in my playbank as well (Twins SPNR). This is a creative design from Coach Beard and staff. National Championship Game Preview: Texas Tech and Virginia XsOs See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is another preview of an action that is beautiful that occurred organically in the Texas Tech motion offense. Of all the actions we prepare our team to guard, we don't guard post up defense to pin down into a double step-up ball screen very well. This action puts great pressure on the rim because of both the athletic ability of Tariq Owens and the vision and beautiful pass by Matt Mooney. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a sample of the Texas Tech true motion offense. This is not a set play but a picture of the sequences of actions you will have to guard when facing them. In one possession you have to guard: a drag screen, flare screen, slipped step-up screen, a pick & pop, and one last flare screen by the 5 to empty the paint. The spacing struggles at times but they force you into uncommon situations and actions that it presents the opportunity for miscommunication and scoring opportunities. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a sample of the organic nature of the Texas Tech offense. It is hard to know whether or not this is a designed action after the floppy with Culver due to the constant player freedom to screen off ball at any time but this does give you a preview of the certain type of actions you will be responsible to communicate through and guard when playing vs. Texas Tech. Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Cavaliers ran this quick hitter to take advantage of the strength and finishing ability of De'Andre Hunter (4). As the point guard dribbles to the wing 4 screens for 5 in the middle of the lane. 5 curls around the screen as 4 seals his defender behind him. 1 passes to 4 in the post for the layup. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is an extremely difficult action to make x5 guard but is incredibly simple to run. We call this "Hot Action" which is a back screen off-ball, followed immediately by an on-ball screen. If the big tags the cutter on the back-screen as he should, unless they are switching, this puts him late to his ball screen coverage. Simple, yet effective. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is another simple set to put x5 behind in his ball screen coverage responsibilities. Very effective yet easy set to run as early offense, in transition, or even late clock. Blog Post: Texas Tech Defense Puts Opponents on Red Alert See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawBaylor opened their semi-final win with this high/low, into a double stagger. They ran this on their first four possessions. Sometimes, they even repeat the action on the second side. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn the 2019 NCAA Elite Eight, Coach Calipari ran this set over and over again, to get PJ Washington isolated. It actually features an opportunity to isolate players on either block. #FastModelMadness See More
