Basketball Play - Las Vegas Aces - Pinch Post Series | Elbow Iso

Las Vegas Aces - Pinch Post Series | Elbow Iso

Aseem Rastogi 04/17/2019

The pinch post actions the Aces use are designed specifically to maximize the number of touches Wilson receives, many of which result in isolations for her in the elbow and mid-post areas. She is an absolutely lethal jump shooter from those areas, and is quicker than most of her counterparts which allows her to sweep and get to the rim with ease. After setting a downscreen for a slasher, Wilson finds her spot and receives the entry pass. From there, there is a handoff option, usually rejected in favor of a face up 1 on 1 play. Basketball Play - Iowa State Cyclones (W) - 1-4 High Iverson Post Iso

Iowa State Cyclones (W) - 1-4 High Iverson Post Iso

Aseem Rastogi 03/27/2019

With 33 seconds left in the third quarter of their Round of 32 matchup with Missouri State, Iowa State's Women's team ran this 1-4 high set to get a post isolation for 6'1" forward Madison Wise, taking advantage of a matchup with a smaller defender. The key to this was Wise's ability to change pace and speed coming across the top of the key; the timing allowed her to keep the defender on her back as she established position on the mid-post. Iowa State ran this to perfection late clock and ended up sending Wise to the FT line to cut the Missouri State lead to 4 going into the fourth. See More

Basketball Play - Seton Hall Pirates - Double High Flare

Seton Hall Pirates - Double High Flare

Doug Brotherton 03/22/2019

Seton Hall battled Wofford in a great game in the First Round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. Seton Hall ran a double drag ball screen, with a strong side down screen. This was all to open up a weak side flare. It is a good action, to get a 3, or a clear out for an isolation to attack off the bounce. #FastModelMadness NCAA Tournament: Viewing Guide by Style of Play See More

Basketball Play - Toledo Rockets - Horns Floppy: Double Stagger Counter

Toledo Rockets - Horns Floppy: Double Stagger Counter

Dave Nedbalek 08/27/2018

This is a counter from the base action I diagramed entitled, "Toledo Rockets - Horns Floppy." This is a very simple yet effective counter you can run with this set. The video below is not of this set itselft, but the base horns floppy action. 5 will attempt to bury defender as 2 comes off screen. While this is happening, 1 and 4 set a double stagger screen away for 3 in the corner. This is a great time for several things: 1) 5 in a post isolation situation while help side is working through the stagger. 2) Obviously a 3pt opportunity for 3 if you have a 5 that garners a lot of attention. 3) While the stagger is occuring, if 5 were to sprint into a side ball screen for 2, that would leave 2 a wide open driving line off of a reject of 5's screen. The Boston Celtics ran this play to start the 3rd quarter of Game 3 against the Cleveland Cavaliers in order to to use their quickness advantage at the 4 spot and get Marcus Morris (4) an isolation opportunity against Kevin Love on the perimeter. The Celtics begin the play with a weave action to get the ball to 2 on the wing. 4 then flashes to the top to receive the pass from 4. 1 screens away for 3 in order to occupy the defense and allow 4 to attack his defender one on one.
