The guard who gives the pitch cuts straight off a down screen, which -- if hedged by the defense -- puts them in terrible position to defend the ball screen. See More

A nice quick hitter out of the pitch series is for a guard-to-guard pitch at the top of the key and then an alley ball screen. Very difficult to defend if the guards either switch or stick with their assignment, and help is easy to read. See More

The pitch series is difficult to defend because usually the man defending the trailer is too far off the point of the handoff to give any type of resistence. The natural counter when a defender starts to meet the trailer high is for that trailer to swing the ball to the side and run straight into a side ball screen. The Pistons have run this action for Ersan Ilyasova this season. See More
