Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Wildcats ran this SLOB several times during the semifinal matchup vs Kansas. At the 13:17 in the second half, the inbounder looked to Spellman (5) for a short corner turnaround jumper (seen in Frame 1). In the first half (14:21), Brunson (1) used the ball screen to set up the fill behind shooter after Spellman's ball screen (Frame 3). Favorite Send to FastDrawLoyola-Chicago uses this play to shift the defense from one side of the floor to the other by allowing the ball to touch a different side of the floor at least four times during a given possession. Each time the ball switches sides of the floor, defensive players on the weak side of the floor have to sprint into help. When the ball gets back on their side of the floor, they then have to close out to contain the ball. Forcing the defense to move and make continual closeouts usually results in defensive breakdowns. This is how the Ramblers are able to attack the paint and get open shots. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawUsed by Syracuse during the 2018 NCAA Tournament, this is a quick hitter for teams that have a point guard with a post skill set, or a stretch 4 shooter. It begins in a 1-4 High formation. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a set UMBC ran against Virginia in their upset victory in the NCAA Tournament. I love the action because the guard that screens for the big to set a ball screen then comes off a 5 man screen to the corner. His man should be in the hole to defend the pick and roll, and when he recovers he has to ellude a screen. NCAA Tournament: XsOs Behind the Upsets See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawGreat action Buffalo ran to get its best player coming off two screens with an isolated side occupied only by a shooter in the corner. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawBuffalo attacked Arizona's big front court by playing small and spacing them out on the perimeter. This isolation action is great for teams with an undersized 4 to take advantage of a bigger/slower defender. NCAA Tournament - XsOs Behind the Upsets See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great set out of the Michigan Two Guard offense that could result in a wide open layup, a guard post up (Marcus Smart mismatch action), or a screen-the-screener 3pt point look. Final Four Breakdown: Michigan Wolverines - Find, Use, Create Philosophy See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawDon't be fooled but the lack of "success" of these set plays in the video clip below. The coaching staffs in post-season play are so well scouted and the teams are elite in preperation that oftentimes the desired shot is not available. Nonetheles, the analytics surrounding side changes and paint touches remains true, as they break the defense down with each action. This set presents several shot opportunities, and the spacing is so phenoenal that however the defense plays it, there will be scoring options with the advantage created. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawBuffalo ran this action in its NCAA Tournament win vs Arizona. The Bulls added a little twist to the traditional back screen, ball screen action by using a PG to back screen for 4. This gives the lob an option and makes a bigger defender cover more ground. It also flows right into roll and replace action. NCAA Tournament - XsOs Behind the Upsets See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Toronto Raptors have revitalized their offense in the 2017-18 season, but not without keeping some old favourite set plays from previous seasons. This play is a repurposed crunch-time special, as it use to be a staple of close games in the 4th quarter more than 5 years ago. Over the years, this set's usage has ebbed and flowed. This year, the Raptors are using it outside of a late-game setting and are introducing it into their After Timeout specials. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw"Flood C" is a set to run vs a Match-up Zone Defense. It is the counter to "Flood" and is run to get a 3pt shot from the corner. The play begins the same way as flood and the action stays the same. Where this play differs from Flood is that instead of throwing back to the 1 after the drag dribble, 2 throws it right back to the 4. 5 sets a screen on the bottom of the zone and 3 comes back ball side looking to catch and shoot behind 5's screen. Favorite Send to FastDrawBuffalo ran this Point Guard Isolation play to get an easy layup vs Arizona in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. The Bulls cleared out entire right side of floor so 1 could take x1 off the dribble. NCAA Tournament - XsOs Behind the Upsets See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawLoyola Chicago started this play with two dribble handoffs as 3 cut to the left corner. This shifted the defense and cleared the right side of the floor. As 2 dribbled at 1, 1 uses the flare screen from 5 to get open for the shot. On the FMS blog: Loyola Chicago Ball Screen Offense Breakdown See More
