UCLA Strong

Kyle Gilreath 07/12/2013

The Utah Jazz ran this Elbow-UCLA action into a modified flex pindown versus the Indiana Pacers this morning during the final day of the Orlando NBA Summer League. The key to this play having your 1 man slow down enough for his defender to think to help on the screen and then shoot off the pin down, creating space. See More

Basketball Play - Horns Pop

Horns Pop

Kyle Gilreath 07/12/2013

On the last day of the Orlando NBA Summer League, the Detroit Pistons ran this simple continuity horns action for multiple pick & rolls. Popping your bigs and having them pass and sprint into continuous pick & rolls is not only hard to guard, but will help them if they play at the next level. See More

Basketball Play - Miami BLOB Step Back

Miami BLOB Step Back

Kevin Bruinsma 07/11/2013

The Miami Heat realized the San Antonio Spurs were sitting on certain baseline out of bounds plays after playing them 7 straight times and decided to throw a different wrinkle at them. Instead of the 4 & 5 setting a double screen for 1 or 3, #1 Chris Bosh set a back screen for the 4 man who dove right to the rim. #1 Bosh's man protects against the cut allowing #1 Bosh to pop for a wide open jumper. Basketball Play - 2 low

2 low

John Leonzo 07/11/2013

Here is a quick hitter that can be run effectively against man to man so long as the offense reads the defense correctly. The effectiveness of this play lies in the screen the screener action that occurs between 2 and 3. 2 will always curl this screen looking to score, if 3's defender helps on 2, 1 should look to hit 3 in the short corner for a shot oppertunity. Basketball Play - Miami Ball Screen Under

Miami Ball Screen Under

Kevin Bruinsma 07/11/2013

A very simple set that the Miami Heat ran to get two baskets against the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals. By putting the 4 man in the corner they brought both defending bigs out of the paint. The 5 ball screens for the 1 who attacks to the 4's side. Kicking the ball to the 4 the 5 rolls hard to the rim. Most teams defend the rim with the low man away. Here that is the 3 man's defender. The 3 man goes to the baseline and slides to the ball side part of the floor and gets a short jumper outside the paint. The Heat ran this for #3 Dwayne Wade. See More

Basketball Play - Knicks Triple Flat

Knicks Triple Flat

Adam Spinella 07/11/2013

The Knicks ran this play in the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Pacers at the end of a quarter. The play was designed to get a J.R. Smith and Carmelo Anthony ballscreen in space. The play was probably designed for Carmelo to pop off the screen and isolate on the wing; instead Chandler was wide open at the rim and Melo hit him for an alley oop. See More

Quick Side EOG

Kyle Gilreath 07/10/2013

With .6 seconds left during game 3 of the NBA Summer League, the Brooklyn Nets ran this sideline out of bounds play to try and win the 4th quarter and secure a point. Considering the lights went out previous to this play, the Nets did a great job executing this play and hit a 3-pointer. Unfortunately, time expired before the shot got off. See More
