About This Play/Drill

This is an after time out (ATO) play primarily used by Head Coach Nick Nurse and the Toronto Raptors to get Kyle Lowry a pull-up 3-pointer. By keeping the defense honest with the occassional solid cross screen and flex cut, Lowry's defender is forced to trail him as he approaches the "uphill" DHO to make this an effective set play.

  • 1 enters the ball to the 4 on the right elbow before cutting off of 5 at the opposite elbow. 4 passes to 5 at the opposite elbow as 1 cuts through the paint and sets a cross screen for 2 making a flex cut.
  • 5 can pass to 2 ducking-in on the flex cut if open. If not, 5 dribbles towards the opposite elbow, where 1 engages in an Uphill DHO.
