About This Play/Drill

This is a secondary break play that is run by the San Antonio Spurs and many other teams.  The play goes right into pinch post action at the end of it.

  • Basketball Play - Strong

Frame 1

The play is initated with a lag pass from #1 to #4. On the pass, #5 will move to the opposite block.

 

Frame 2

The option for #4 is to pass the ball to #3. From here, #'s 1 and 4 will set a stagger double screen for #2.

 

Frame 3

Once #2 clears the screens, #1 will cut to the ball-side corner and #4 will slip to the basket. We want #2 to catch the basketball coming off of the stagger double at all cost if we cannot enter the ball to #5 in the low post.

 

Frame 4

On the catch, #4 comes to the elbow opposite the origin of the pass to #2. The entry pass is made by #2 to #4 to start the pinch post action.
