About This Play/Drill

This is an excellent play designed by Purdue Coach Matt Painter out of a Box Set.

Purdue runs a pass entry into a UCLA screening action.

With the opposite big popping to the TOK, the PG sets a shuffle cut and runs into a double stagger.

On the pass to the TOK, the wing then runs baseline off a triple screen to the opposite side looking to make the defense chase.

At the end, Purdue runs a "hamer screen" action off a guard-to-guard exchange and as a last option a SPNR into a shot behind the SPNR

    1 Thompson (#3) dribbles at 2 Davis (#35) as he cuts off the down screen from 4 Swanigan (#50) who flashes back to the elbow after screening

     

    3 Edwards (#12) pops out the weak side wing

  • Purdue Shuffle with Two Stagger Options vs M2M

     

    4 Swanigan (#50) sets a UCLA screen for 1 Thompson (#3) who cuts off the screen setting up the next action

     

    5 Hammons (#20) pops to the TOK

  • Purdue Shuffle with Two Stagger Options vs M2M

     

    2 Davis (#35) reverses the ball to 5 Hammons (#20) at the TOK and Hammons passes to 3 Edwards (#12) on the opposite wing

     

    1 Thompson (#3) steps up on the pass and sets a shuffle screen for 2 Davis (#35) who comes off the screen looking for a quick pass

  • Purdue Shuffle with Two Stagger Options vs M2M

     

    4 Swanigan (#50) turns and sets the first screen as 5 Hammons (#20) moves behind to complete the double stagger action for 1 Thompson (#3) who cuts to the TOK

  • Purdue Shuffle with Two Stagger Options vs M2M

     

    3 Edwards (#12) makes the pass to 1 Thompson (#3) coming off the double

     

    2 Davis (#35) steps out to back screen 3 Edwards (#12) defender as he runs off a triple stagger with 4 Swanigan (#50) and 5 Hammons (#20) moving to set the remaining two screens

     

    1 Thompson (#3) dribbles at the cutter looking to hit 3 Edwards (#12) coming off the triple

  • Purdue Shuffle with Two Stagger Options vs M2M

     

    2 Davis (#35) looks to hit 4 Swanigan (#50) in the post and in this situation he reverses to 3 Edwards filling the TOK position as 1 Thompson slides over to the wing off the "hammer" screen from 5 Hammons (#20)
