Favorite Send to FastDrawToronto ran this early in the first overtime of Game 3 against the Milwaukee Bucks to get an open three-point shot for Danny Green (2). 4 started the play by setting the cross screen for 3. This opened up the right side of the floor for 2 to get the shot off the baseline screen from 5. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Toronto Raptors ran this play late in the second overtime of Game 3 against the Milwaukee Bucks to get the ball to Kawhi Leonard (3) where he can attack the paint. After setting the flare screen 3 cuts around 5 to get the handoff. Since x3 doesn't want to give up the open three-point shot, he trails 3 on the handoff. 3 then turns the corner to attack the basket. In this situation, x5 provides help on the drive which gets 5 open. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawA quick look for the Toronto Raptors at the start of Game 1 against the 76ers. When your 5 is the size of Marc Gasol and has a soft touch like his, you get an easy look at the rim for your PG. Blog Post: Coach, What's Your Basketball Genre? See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis action out of the Princeton Offense has been a staple of the Toronto Raptors' offense for several years. In fact, it is one of the most pervasive actions across the NBA. Nick Nurse has utilized it at the end of many close games, as well as in normal half court scenarios. Primarily called for Kawhi Leonard to attack the screen defender going downhill, it has also been called for Kyle Lowry and other primary ball handlers on the Raptors in the 2018-19 season. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawDuring Pascal Siakam's breakout season in 2018-19 as the Most Improved Player, Nick Nurse has dedicated several set-plays to leverage Siakam's unique skill set. With the Point Guard dribbling on the right wing and crossing into the middle of the floor, "4 Flip" is a pet play for Pascal Siakam to leverage his strong driving ability going to his right when the ball is flipped to him as he cross half court. Favorite Send to FastDrawThe play, which can be initiated from SLOB (Sideline out of Bounds) scenarios or a normal half-court possession, is a set that involves a lot of player and ball movement around a post up. Nick Nurse has utilized it quite often to leverage the playmaking abilities of his players that feel comfortable making plays out of the post. Specifically, Marc Gasol and Pascal Siakam are usually the main decision makers as the remaining off-ball Raptors screen and cut for one another ot occupy the defense's attention. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWith the addition of Marc Gasol's playmaking ability, Nick Nurse has reintroduced the "Elbow" series into the Toronto Raptors playbook in the 2018-19 season. Popularized by Rick Adelman as the Corner Offense, this set allows the Raptors to utilize their versatile personnel, such as Pascal Siakam and Kyle Lowry, in inteerchangeable roles as passers, cutters, and pick and roll ball handlers. Often times ran at the end of games, this set allows Nick Nurse to involve all of high star players at once. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawA staple of the Toronto Raptors' short-clock out of bounds playbook in 2018-19, "Head Tap" BLOB has been extremely effective for team that finished with the 2nd best record in the NBA. Nick Nurse has leveraged the cardinal rule of out of bounds defense - no layups on an inbounds pass - to the offense's advantage by stretching help defense from the rim to the 3-point line. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThroughout Kyle Lowry's tenure with the Toronto Raptors, this baseline out of bounds play has been used as a set-action to get him a 3-pointer in rhythm going to his preferred left. During a mid-seasoon slump in 2018-19, Nick Nurse dialled up "3" BLOB several times over the course of a few games to great success. After toggling from the inbounder and continuing into the continuous staggered screens, Lowry eventually will shoot a catch-and-shoot jumper. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawAnother addition to the Toronto Raptors' revampled out-of-bounds playbook - "Chest" BLOB - is a very simple set of actions. Quite possibly a read-and-react actions, this 4-flat set is a staple of Nick Nurse's playcalling when the Raptors are inbounding the ball under the basket in 2018-19 season. The new additions of Danny Green and Kawhi Leonard have particularly been effective in this set on quick catch-and-shoot looks. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawDuring Nick Nurse's first year as the Toronto Raptors head coach, he entirely revamped its out-of-bounds playbook. A perfect encapsulation of that is one of the Raptors' most used baseline out of bounds sets - "C" BLOB. This mover-blocker-esque action does not have any superfluous movement and each motion has a subsequent option and read that follows. See More
