Basketball Play - 5 Out Motion Offense: Middle Push Reads

5 Out Motion Offense: Middle Push Reads

KJ Smith 08/14/2018

The following reads are made in both the primary and secondary break. They can be the building blocks of an entire offensive system while developing the IQ and skill sets of your players. Circle: Corner player cuts to the rim as the wing player fades towards the corner for a shot. Drop: Wing player dives to the rim as the corner player lifts up to the wing for a shot. Down: Wing down screen towrads the corner where that player may fill up to the rim for a shot as well as curl or backdoor cut to the rim. The screener will either slip to the rim or pop out to the perimeter. Up: Corner lifts up to flare screen for the wing before slipping to the basket. The cutter may also curl to the rim. If the flare screener does not slip to the basket, they may sprint to the ball for a dribble handoff. See More

Basketball Play - Boston College 4v4 Transition Drill

Boston College 4v4 Transition Drill

Michael Lynch 08/13/2018

The progression of drills is really effective in this Boston College "Fast Break Concepts" video created by Coach Chris Oliver of @BballImmersion. The 4 v 4 Transition Drill that begins at about the 7:00 mark was one that I thought was particularly useful. The Offense starts with a slight 4 v 2 advantage and seeks to make a pitch ahead pass for a score. Whether the offense misses or makes, the defense will then take the ball back up the court 4 v 4. Basketball Play - Doornekamp Action STS BLOB

Doornekamp Action STS BLOB

Diccon Lloyd-Smeath 08/04/2018

Nice set using Basketball Immersion's "Doornekamp Action" - a term for fake lifting for the safety pass and then cutting basket cutting, as 4 does in this set. Use a shooter as the back screener and clear the lane by placing 5 in the ball side corner and lifting the wing out of the weak side corner. This set works for all ages and abilities, and should result in an open shot or a switch to attack. See More

Basketball Play - Canada - Force Curl STS BLOB

Canada - Force Curl STS BLOB

Diccon Lloyd-Smeath 08/04/2018

Effective and simple BLOB play by Canada Coach Jay Triano. Use this play with players of all ages if you have a shooter that can release quickly. This play works off the basis that by force-curling the first screen, your shooter effectively uses the cutter's defender as a second moving screen, and because the offense is cutting to the basket, the inbounder's defender must shade basket side - leaving the passing lane open.
