Basketball Play - 98 Bulls Low

98 Bulls Low

Adam Spinella 07/15/2013

The 1998 Chicago Bulls ran this Baseline Out of Bounds play, particularly in the 1998 Playoffs against the Charlotte Hornets. The design was to get Pippen the ball on the block with shooters in Jordan and Kerr around him in the Triangle. Pippen is the first screener, then gets a screen set for him by Rodman in a "screen the screener" action. See More

Basketball Play - Stacks High

Stacks High

John Leonzo 07/12/2013

Here is a set play that starts out with high stacks and morphs into a 1-4 set. This is a great set because it gets the ball swinging from side to side, has action going both towards and away from the basket, as well as a ball screen. You can also adapt this play so that 2 and 4 play pick and pop after the ball screen or you can pop 1 out for a 3pt chance off a stagger screen from 4 and 5 after 4 ball screens 2. See More

Basketball Play - Miami Deep Stagger

Miami Deep Stagger

Kevin Bruinsma 07/12/2013

With #6 Lebron James playing the 4 for the Miami Heat it allowed them to run a lot of stuff with the 4 handling the ball against the Spurs in the NBA Finals. They ran this deep stagger set to get the ball to #34 Ray Allen. Ray Allen does an outstanding job of getting his defender on his side or behind him, and burrying him deep. He runs off the stagger screen and scores off a wide open 12 footer. See More

Basketball Play - Baseline 3

Baseline 3

Trent Miller 07/09/2013

Today's FastDraw Play of the Day is a Half-Court Box Set ran by the Illinois Fighting Illini during the 2012-13 season. Use this set to get an open 3 when your opponent is really exaggerating their weak side help. This set will result in an open 3pt shot. See More

Basketball Play - Spurs Stagger On-Ball

Spurs Stagger On-Ball

Kevin Bruinsma 07/08/2013

The spacing on this set is incredibly tight which places high importance on the ball handlers ability and the screeners timing. Here the San Antonio Spurs run #9 Tony Parker off a stagger screen while allowing #20 Manu Ginobili uses a #21 Tim Duncan ball screen. With the spacing being so tight the help defense is non-existent as they are hugged up with their own man. See More

Basketball Play - Spurs Stagger Ball Screen Under

Spurs Stagger Ball Screen Under

Kevin Bruinsma 07/07/2013

#4 Danny Green did a great job of moving around on the perimeter to give the Miami Heat fits in the NBA Finals. In this specific set he went from one corner to the other as #9 Tony Parker was dribbling off the stagger screen. His man was so worried about the rolling bigs he didn't even know where Green went. Led to a wide open 3-pointer. See More

Basketball Play - Spurs Misdirection

Spurs Misdirection

Kevin Bruinsma 07/04/2013

A very similiar set to what the Indiana Pacers ran against the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals the Spurs ran a misdirection play against the Heat in the NBA Finals. Using the presence of #21 Tim Duncan they made it look like he was getting a cross screen, before #2 Kawhi Leonard turned right back around to set a stagger with #21 Tim Duncan for #20 Manu Ginobili. Basketball Play - Spurs Horns Stagger

Spurs Horns Stagger

Kevin Bruinsma 07/03/2013

The Spurs ran a nice variety of stuff out of the classic Horns set. They also loved to do things with a stagger action. Here they got their 2 the ball off a stagger and immediatly into a dribble handoff. This put the defense in a trailing position, and allowed the 5 to slip right to the rim for a basket against the Miami Heat. See More

Basketball Play - Spurs Swing Ball Screen

Spurs Swing Ball Screen

Kevin Bruinsma 07/02/2013

I really loved this action used by the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat. They look for the quick curl for the 2 man, get a shuffle screen, then a stagger, then a ball screen. This play is packed with multiple actions for the defense to guard and puts a lot of pressure on the man defending the 5 man. See More
