Favorite Send to FastDrawGreat transition drill, good for conditioning and decision making on the fly. Team is divided in two groups of six players each (blue - white). Three players from blue team begin the drill by attacking and then running back to defense (defensive transition). Defensive players (white team) pass the ball to their teammates waiting outside the court. So, the flow for each three players sub-group is this: offense and back to defense, then out. Offense has only six seconds to take a shot since getting the ball in backourt. The team scoring five points first wins the set, every basket counts for one, if a shooting foul is commited then one point is awarded. Play to two or three winning sets. Variations: a) increase offense time to eight seconds and apply early pick and roll or any transition action you like to run. b) make tunrovers count as minus one point, to make players serious about their decision making. c) count game like score and play to 11 points. Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Florida Gulf Coast Eagles women's team is known for their five-out offense and three-point shooting but this is a great quick-hitting play that they run to get a lob for their 5. The play starts with the guards curling around the posts at the elbows followed by a UCLA cut by the point guard and they 5 popping out to receive the pass from 3. 5 then reverses to 4 to setup the decoy action of 2 cutting off a screen from 1. 3 then sets the backscreen for 5 on the weakside for the lob. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn today’s diagram and embedded video we look at a fundamentals drill. This drill has no shooting. It's simply performing attacking footwork, getting to the jump stop, and executing a pivot. Change the footwork every couple minutes. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a BLOB play. This play works like a charm if you have a shooting big. The screen away actions usually causes a brief moment of help from 4's defender, giving an opening to pop to the corner. Favorite Send to FastDrawWe used a 5 Out pass and cut offense which set up this play perfectly. When the designated shooter got to the top of the key we double-flared the back side and dribbled at the flare screens. We used a numbering system for our personnel - the point guard was the 1, shooting guard was the 2, etc. So I would call "Special 2" to indicate we were running the flare screens for the shooting guard in our system.
