Tuesday night in their nail biting loss to South Florida, Florida Gulf Coast ran this half-court set for a post hi-low isolation. After spending many years at Kansas under Bill Self, it is no surprise that FGCU coach Joe Dooley frequents hi-low actions. If 3 can set a solid screen the goal is for 5 to try and catch in the middle of the paint for a quick score. However, if X5 fights over top of the screen of X3 and X5 switch, 5 is to seal his man on the top side for a lob pass over the top for a finish. See More

The Boise State Bronocs have beomce a well known team since Leon Rice arrived from Gonzaga. Since his arrival, the Broncos have established a dominant home court advantage, played near the top of the Mountain West Conference, and had their first at large selction to the NCAA Tournament. This is a nice post entry set run off a shallow dribble entry guard-to-guard out top. The FT line screen at the end can lead to a 3 pt shot or if the defense jumps the screen a slip action for the screener or a kick-out to either the corner or wing for an open shot. See More

While playing around on the FastDraw iPad app this morning I actually ended up drawing a post-up play that I really like. This play is most effective with proper timing. 5 should be coming off the backscreen from 4 and 1 as 3 is receiving the pass. If X1 or X4 double down to help on the catch, look to quickly kick the ball out for a shot. See More

Last night in their win over the Kansas Jayhawks, the Florida Gators ran this half-court set which involved multiple screening actions leading to a middle pick & roll. As 1 came off the pick & roll he was able to find 3 spotting up in the corner. Due to the defensive rotations, this allowed 5 to post-up on the block. See More

If you are looking for some hi-lo plays for your team, spend some time watching the Bill Self's Kansas Jayhawks. He does a tremendous job putting his players into positions to create mismatches and seals and allow for simple hi-lo play. Halfway through the 2nd half of their loss to UCONN, Florida head coach Billy Donovan called out this play to PG Scottie Wilbekin to get his Gators to run some offense for multiple looks. If you follow the Gators or Coach Donovan, you know he is one of the best at teaching and executing continuity offense. While they frequently run baseline runner/rhody actions, I love this new addition to his playbook. There are multiple scoring opportunities to attack any defensive adjustments in this action.
