Las Vegas Aces - Pinch Post Ricky Flare

The Aces find creative ways to utilize pinch post entries and actions to create advantages for their best players. In this situation, using Liz Cambage as a permanent screener and allowing Kayla McBride to use her craftiness and speed gets the Aces their best scorer 1 on 1 against a recovering defender with plenty of space to operate. Las Vegas Aces - Triangle Rip Flash Flare EOG SLOB

The Aces ran this SLOB as they were clawing back in a tense game with the Phoenix Mercury. The most dangerous person in this situation is the inbounder, Kayla McBride. Well timed and executed screening creates an opportunity for her to get to the rim and finish. Basketball Play - Michigan State Spartans - L Option Post Up

Michigan State Spartans - L Option Post Up

When looking for coaches who run great sets to get the ball into the post, there are two coahces that are at the top of that list: Tom Izzo and Matt Painter. Both historically have had great post players that have been viable options offensivley for their teams. In the first play of the game after the game between Michigan State and Purdue from this past season, Tom Izzo runs this set to get arguably his two best players involved in the same action with Nick Ward and Cassius Winston. The primary option is to get the ball into Ward on the low block. The defense is also kept honest because the point guard has the option to come off a pin down from the 4 or come off the 5's baseline screen and look to enter the ball into the post. This set is great option in terms of keeping your best players involved in the same action, while creating oppurtunities to get the ball in the low post should that be one of the better options for your team.
