Favorite Send to FastDrawSet run by the Spurs at the 9:22 mark of Q3 in their game 5 win over the Heat. The first frame is motion to get into the elbow set. The dribble hand off and roll by Duncan pulls the defense in to protect the rim allowing Green space for the open 3. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis may be the Miami Heat's most successful offensive set outside of the ball screen. They do a really great job of getting Lebron James a catch right in the middle of the floor. He can drive, shoot, or wait for the action on the weak side to take place. The action is a big screen by 5 (Chris Bosh) on 2 (Dwayne Wade) so all three of the Heat's big 3 are involved. When the 5 man backs off to protect on 2's cut the ball gets passed to Bosh for a shot. If the 2 doesn't help the ball goes to the back cut for Wade. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Heat ran this set to cut the Spurs lead to 9 with 2:02 left in game 5. Green went over the top of the flare and ended up chasing Allen. Miller cut to the strong corner clearing out the weakside for the ball reversal to Bosh and basket cut for an Allen layup. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a quick hitter that was run by Lionel Hollins and the Memphis Grizzlies this past NBA season. The wide pin down to dribble hand off action is very hard to guard and can either get you a good look at a basket or create a mismatch opportunity if the defense elects to switch. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawSet run by Miami at the 9:35 mark of Q3 in their game 5 loss to the Spurs. It's a mid ball screen that ends up with a post feed for Wade. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawSimple play to get the ball inbounds from the sideline, run by the CT Sun. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawBaseline out of bounds play ran by the CT in their 66-62 loss to the Mystics 6/7/13. The play starts off with a familiar box set action. Often when 4 passes to 1, 4 would screen the screener. The Sun flipped the down screeners, having a big screen a little into the lane. Usually a little will screen a big into the lane. This change allowed 2 to run the baseline coming off of 4 and 5's screens. Having the bigs screen the guard on the baseline should prevent a switch. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawElbow set run by the Heat in their game 5 win over the Pacers. Having a great shooter setting and running off screens forces the defense to provide a lot of help on the screens and be very active. Rolling James down the lane put a lot of pressure on the defense and it had to pull in leaving Haslem for the open jumper. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawMiami opened the 3rd quarter of their game 5 win over the Pacers with this elbow set. Utilizing down screens, hand offs, and ball screens Miami was able to open up driving lanes. The Pacers won the 1st and 4th quarter and tied the 2nd quarter but lost the 3rd quarter by 17 points. The Heat player movement, ball movement, shot making and offensive execution was excellent in this 30 point 3rd quarter. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a set play that was run often by the Pitt Panthers over the course of this last college basketball season. This play starts off with a basic flex action and then develops into a back screen for a lob opportunity and then finishes with a screen the screener action to get an open three. This play is great because the ball is changing sides of the floor, you have action going to the basket and away from the basket, and also flows right out of transition. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is the best stuff from the San Antonio Spurs in their 4-0 series sweep over the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference Finals. There are quite a few plays as I wanted to be able to give you the Spurs playbook of their most successful actions and offensive sets. Favorite Send to FastDrawAs Kyle Gilreath posted the Pacers have been running a lot of zippers into ball screens. This is another look at how Indiana ran zippers and ball screens in game 5. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Pacers ran this play in the 3rd quarter of their game 5 loss to the Heat. Because George is a enough of a threat to shoot the 3 and can drive Hibberts man has to stay with George coming off the screen. Hibbert then rolls down the middle of the lane to recieve a pass from West who replaced him. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThere is no better way to end the week than with one last zipper action from the Indiana Pacers. They ran this play versus the Miami Heat in Game 5 of the ECF. The Pacers have had much success in pick & roll situations finding Hibbert on the role for points in the paint. This is an excellent way to set up a pick & roll for Hibbert. By placing a shooter (3) in the corner it makes helping on the roll of 5 harder because if the defense sags in a talented point guard will throw back to 3 for a shot. See More
