Basketball Play - Georgetown Elbow Down

Georgetown Elbow Down

Wes Kosel 05/06/2015

1 passes to 5 flashing to the high post then screens down for 4 at the free-throw line. 4 makes a back-cut to the basket and 1 pops out to the top of the key. Once 1 has the ball, 5 sets a ball-screen for 1 as 3 sets a cross-screen for 4. 1 looks to drive left and score, pass to 5 on the roll, or pass to 4 in the corner for a shot. See More

Basketball Play - Creighton Box 2

Creighton Box 2

Wes Kosel 05/02/2015

In this box option, the post players start at the elbows and the wings on the blocks. 4 moves down to the block to set a staggered-screen for 2. 2 cuts to the left corner looking for a shot. If 2 isn't open, 1 looks to pass to 3 cutting off of a down-screen from 5. If 3 gets the ball with no shot, he looks to pass to 5 or 4 at the block or elbow. 5 sets the cross-screen for 4 in the lane with 4 choosing to either go under or over the screen. 5 flashes opposite of 4's cut. Basketball Play - Creighton Box 1

Creighton Box 1

Wes Kosel 05/02/2015

In this box set play from Creighton, the post players start on the left side of the lane and the wings start on the right side. 2 screens down for 3 who cuts to the right wing for a shot. Basketball Play - Washington Wizards "Post Rub Rip Empty"

Washington Wizards "Post Rub Rip Empty"

Gibson Pyper 04/30/2015

Another counter to a normal set that teams ran in the regular season is an empty set from the Washington Wizards. The Wizards normally run a post rub into a cross screen for the big man to get a post touch, but in the playoffs they ran a counter that had the guard who normally screens the big man, runs to the corner. The other big flashes to the elbow to empty the paint and allows the big to seal his man and have an entry for a layup. See More

Basketball Play - Chicago Bulls "Lob"

Chicago Bulls "Lob"

Gibson Pyper 04/30/2015

To open up game 2 against Milwaukee, the Bulls ran a nice Lob set to get an easy two points for Jimmy Butler. The set begins with Pau screening down for Butler who then sets a ballscreen on the wing. Because his man has to show/help/switch on the ballscreen this allows him to cut off the double backscreen easier for a lob. See More

Basketball Play - Boston Celtics "Indy Rip"

Boston Celtics "Indy Rip"

Gibson Pyper 04/30/2015

Brad Stevens took an underrated and a Boston Celtic team that had mid season trades and were expecting to head for an early draft pick to the playoffs. He is one of the best basketball minds in the NBA, and he runs a nice set for Isaiah Thomas with multiple options off of it. It starts with a dribble handoff to the trailing big and the point guard cuts off backscreen from the opposite big man at the elbow. The first option is for the point guard to "V" cut back off at the elbow and look for a shot opportunity. If there is not shot available, 5 will step up and set a ballscreen, because of the dribble handoff 4 is already spacing the floor, so the Spread Pick & Roll doesn't need to be setup. The next option is for 1 to continue off backscreen and set a flex screen for the wing man and then receive a down screen from 4. See More
