Basketball Play - Spurs Stagger Ball Screen Under

Spurs Stagger Ball Screen Under

Kevin Bruinsma 07/07/2013

#4 Danny Green did a great job of moving around on the perimeter to give the Miami Heat fits in the NBA Finals. In this specific set he went from one corner to the other as #9 Tony Parker was dribbling off the stagger screen. His man was so worried about the rolling bigs he didn't even know where Green went. Led to a wide open 3-pointer. See More

Basketball Play - Spurs Misdirection

Spurs Misdirection

Kevin Bruinsma 07/04/2013

A very similiar set to what the Indiana Pacers ran against the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals the Spurs ran a misdirection play against the Heat in the NBA Finals. Using the presence of #21 Tim Duncan they made it look like he was getting a cross screen, before #2 Kawhi Leonard turned right back around to set a stagger with #21 Tim Duncan for #20 Manu Ginobili. Basketball Play - Spurs Horns Stagger

Spurs Horns Stagger

Kevin Bruinsma 07/03/2013

The Spurs ran a nice variety of stuff out of the classic Horns set. They also loved to do things with a stagger action. Here they got their 2 the ball off a stagger and immediatly into a dribble handoff. This put the defense in a trailing position, and allowed the 5 to slip right to the rim for a basket against the Miami Heat. See More

Basketball Play - Spurs Swing Ball Screen

Spurs Swing Ball Screen

Kevin Bruinsma 07/02/2013

I really loved this action used by the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat. They look for the quick curl for the 2 man, get a shuffle screen, then a stagger, then a ball screen. This play is packed with multiple actions for the defense to guard and puts a lot of pressure on the man defending the 5 man. See More

Basketball Play - Triple Option

Triple Option

Randy Brown 07/01/2013

This play contains several scoring opportunities. From a double stack 3 and 2 cut opposite to get open for shots. On ball reversal to 4, 5 is isolated in the paint for high low pass. On ball reversal to 2, 3 slashes for the ball as 5 and 4 double screen for 1, freeing him at the top of the key. Give it a try! See More

Basketball Play - Spurs Slob

Spurs Slob

Daniel Murphy 06/30/2013

The Spurs ran this SLOB at 6:50 of Q3 in game 7. There were six seconds on the shot clock at this point. The Spurs had great spacing for the middle pick and roll with Duncan and Manu. Duncan had a good look at an extended layup but Wade made a great contest on the shot, pulling in from the corner off the ice cold Green. See More

Basketball Play - Atlanta Cross Double

Atlanta Cross Double

Daniel Murphy 06/28/2013

The Atlanta Dream ran this set a couple times in their 78-77 win over the CT Sun 6/23. After the cross screen 2 would come off a double or elevator. You can move your personel around to get them the ball in different spots by starting with a small on big cross screen. See More

Basketball Play - Spurs Chest Triple

Spurs Chest Triple

Daniel Murphy 06/26/2013

The Spurs ran this set at the 7:23 mark of Q4 in their game 5 win over the Heat. This play starts off similarly to Tom Izzo's "Chest" play. Duncan cuts to the top of the key to give a 2-3 look at the start of the play. MSU will have the wings down screen the guards. Here the Spurs had Green set the first of 3 screens for Parker. When Parker catches the ball on the curl, Duncan turns to set a ball screen but Parker catches and drives for the floater. See More

Basketball Play - Wildcat

Wildcat

John Leonzo 06/25/2013

Here is a play that John Calipari ran in his first year at Kentucky. This was a great set for that team because of where it placed their extremely talented players. You had 5 (Cousins) in the post, 1 (John Wall) attacking off the ball screen, and 2 (Eric Bledsoe) coming off of the stagger. They would run this at the end of the shot clock to get a good look.
