Basketball Play - Single with Baseline Double

Single with Baseline Double

Basketball HQ 10/30/2012

If your best basketball player is a pure shooter and doesn’t really put the ball down on the floor well then it is going to be absolutely key that you have plenty of screens for him to get good looks. This basketball play is exactly what it sounds like. The shooter sets a single screen, then cuts off of the baseline double screen. Screeners need to set good legal screens and shooter needs to read his defender and come off the right screen. Screeners need to be ready to catch and finish the ball if their man helps too much on the shooter. This play is from the 2005-2006 Duke season. See More

Basketball Play - Williams-HandOff

Williams-HandOff

Kyle Brown 10/29/2012

A blob action from Williams coach Mike Maker. His team does a great job of getting the inbounder shots off of action like this. The key is to have your second cutter seek out the inbounders defender on the tight curl and almost set a "moving screen" so that the man defending the cutter doesnt realize its a screen. See More

Basketball Play - '21'

'21'

Kyle Brown 10/23/2012

A set that has many scoring options. The first scoring option is 5 in the post off of 4's backscreen. Then you have your 2 man coming off of a flare to an open side. The play finishes with a ballscreen for 1. Depending on the ability of your players the ball screen could be a roll and replace action. See More

Basketball Play - Shallow Cut into Double Flare

Shallow Cut into Double Flare

Kyle Brown 10/18/2012

A set that has a lot of options to score for the 3. 1st action is the double flare at the elbow. 1 man can slip this screen (guard to guard action) for an easy score. 5 really has to headhunt on this flare. The play can finish many different ways with ballscreen actions. If your 3 can create off a ballscreen then the throwback to 5 and the pass and follow could be really good. See More

Basketball Play - BLOB - Low Double Stack with Single Screen

BLOB - Low Double Stack with Single Screen

Basketball HQ 10/14/2012

Sometimes the best way to get open is to set a good screen. For this basketball play you are going to set your best shooter up like he is going to set a screen and then when his defender gets ready to help on the screen run him off the single on the other side. Mix up the ways that you get your best player touches the basketball, don’t be predictable. Read the defender and to get a shot but don’t over force the shot. This play is from the 2005-2006 Duke season. See More

Basketball Play - Hand Off with Ball Screen

Hand Off with Ball Screen

Basketball HQ 10/12/2012

A handoff followed by a ball screen is basically a double ball screen but it helps to get the player the ball even if they are being denied. Come off the ball screen and look to make a play for your yourself or a teammate. On the handoff dribble right at the wings defender and try to screen him as you hand the ball off. Wing needs to take a good angle to come off the handoff and ball screen, look to turn the corner on the ball screen if you can. This play is from the 2005-2006 Duke season. See More
