09/24/2017The LA Sparks ran this play late in the 4th quarter of Game 1 of the WNBA Finals to try to get 4 isolated in the post off of the back screen from 2. After 2 sets the flex screen 3 continues cutting to the corner to get 2 & 4 isolated on the weak side of the floor. 2 sets the back screen on 4 then pops out to receive the pass from 5. 4 looks to pass to 4 but in this situation the post entry was defended well and the Sparks went to a secondary option with a ball screen. Clemson - Swing Pindown
01/15/2018The Clemson Tigers use ball and player movement to isolate a side of the floor for a pindown screen for a perimeter player. 1 passes to 4 on the wing then cuts to the ball side corner. 2 then V-cuts to receive the pass up top from 4. 5 sets a pindown screen for 3. Because the Tigers have isolated the left side of the floor, 3 and 5 are playing 2-on-2 off the screen without any other help defenders in the area. 03/15/2018The Miami Hurricanes were able to get a backdoor layup out of a timeout with this play in their first round NCAA Tournament game against Loyola-Chicago. After passing to 4, 1 followed the pass looking for a handoff. 5 then set a flare screen for 2. This occupied the help defense on the right side of the floor, and isolated 3 against his defender. They initially ran a play to get the ball to Jayson Tatum but had to call their final timeout when the 76ers nearly forced a five-second call on the inbounds pass. Down to their final chance, the Celtics ran this play to get Al Horford (5) isolated at the rim. The 76ers were switching all screens to keep the Celtics from getting an open look. This worked to the Celtics advantage as Horford screened for 2, bringing Joel Embid (x5) away from the basket to deny the pass to 2. x2 and x3 had already switched assignments when 3 cut along the baseline. This isolated Horford against Robert Covington (x3) in the post. Covington fronted Horford to deny the pass but with the weak side cleared, Horford sealed his defender to get the lob pass at the rim for the game-winning basket.
