Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of a horns alignment. This is a pretty sexy set play with a lot going on. I do think this is more substance than style, and I believe some of the initial options in the set may present opportunities for good shots before the stagger screen. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of a horns alignment. The ball handler uses the horns ball screens and reads the strong side backdoor, or the shooter coming off the double veer on the back side. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of the horns alignment. This action is simple and effective. It's hard for the defense to chase for that long through three screens. This set naturally leads into a two-person game if the shooter is not open off the hand off. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of the horns alignment. The horns ball screen, rolling and popping, creates great 4 around 1 spacing for the high/low. I like the flow of the play after the high/low look, using the DHO to set up action on both sides. I would bet that at least one of the sides isn't defended properly after the high/low action. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a set out of a horns alignment. The set wants the defense to help on the screen in the paint, so that they are late getting through the screen-the-screener action. Against switching defenses, 5 wants to screen their own defender to free up the shooter. Video below. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play series out of a horns alignment. The dribble push enters the set. The first two options are slipping the gate screen, and turning the corner on the dribble push for a clear out. The next option is using the gate screen, which goes into a pin or flare option, similar to a blocker/mover action. Video below. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of a horns alignment. The dribble push enters the set and the ball is swung to the top of the key after the gate screen. The two gate screeners screen away, opening up a gap for the driver to attack. Video below. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a set play out of a horns alignment we use with multiple options. First, we use the alignment to let a playmaker attack and read the defense with the horns ball screen, roll/pop action. We want to play off the ball handler, and if we can't create a shot off the initial attack, look to play 4 around 1 with our big to get it inside. Then we look at a couple simple set options that play off of the base action. Video clip below. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this video we look at using a horns alignment to execute a play with multiple options to create a shot. Players can use the ball screen to score, hit a shooter coming off a pin down on the back side, or hit the roll man, although that didn’t happen in this film. With a good decision making lead guard, I think this action is a winner.
