Basketball Play - Sweep

Sweep

Alan Peel 08/19/2013

"Sweep" is a secondary break play run by several teams including Colorado and Harvard. This play is based on the North Carolina approach to secondary break offense made popular by Dean Smith and Roy Williams. It can be run if you do not have players athletic enough to run the Carolina break for the lob dunk and can be run into any kind of a three-around-two offense. Basketball Play - "Double Fist"

"Double Fist"

Kyle Gilreath 08/16/2013

This is a play that Jim Boeheim frequented during the 2013 Final Four. I love this set because of the continuous screening actions after the initial stagger pick & roll. The first two options of the play are for 1 to come off and attack the rim and if he can't throwback to 4 for a catch & shoot. If neither of those options are open 2 comes off the second set of staggers for a multiple of options. For every play Syracuse ran during the 2013 Final Four check out my eBook, "Championship Execution". See More

Basketball Play - 1 Baseline

1 Baseline

Kyle Gilreath 08/15/2013

The Louisville Cardinals ran this play in the 2nd half of the 2013 National Championship game versus Michigan. If you watch Rick Pitino and Billy Donovan enough you know they love to run baseline staggers. This is a great quick hitter that got point guard Peyton Siva some easy looks from mid-range. To see EVERY play Louisville ran in the 2012 and 2013 Final Four you can do so in my eBookChampionship Execution! See More

Basketball Play - Double Swing

Double Swing

Randy Brown 08/12/2013

Double swing uses the same action twice in the same set play. After ball is entered to 3, 1 cuts to block and uses 4's down screen to return to original spot. 2 and 3 again swing the wings, with 2 receiving three staggered screens to get open on the right side. After screening for 2, 3 empties out on the left wing. Give it a try! See More

Basketball Play - Triangle Quick

Triangle Quick

Kyle Gilreath 08/12/2013

Last night I wanted to get to bed early after moving all weekend but got caught watching the 2008 NBA Finals between the Lakers-Celtics, and I couldn't turn it off! This is an action out of Phil Jackson's Triangle Offense that allows for two simultaneous scoring cuts from Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher. If the defense over helps on either screen slip 3 or 4 to the rim. See More

Basketball Play - Zipper Fist SLOB

Zipper Fist SLOB

Daniel Murphy 07/31/2013

Zipper screen to a ball screen from the sideline. Simple play that allows your players to make reads. 4 and 5 can roll and replace. 1 can finish at the rim. Hit 5 on the roll. 4 on the replace for a shot or hi-low with 5. If any weakside help pulls in, 1 can pass out for an open perimeter jump shot. See More

Basketball Play - Dive Double Spin

Dive Double Spin

Adam Spinella 07/31/2013

Dive Double Spin is a very precise and complex way to get a backdoor opportunity. While it may be just a bit too complex to run at a high school level, its level of success at the collegiate level was astounding. At the University of Indiana, Kelvin Sampson used this play to get his best finishers an opportunity at the rim without challenge. See More

Basketball Play - LA Lakers Horns Set

LA Lakers Horns Set

Brandon Huntley 07/29/2013

This set was ran by the LA Lakers Summer League Team. There are a lot of different options from this play and it is really important for your point guard to make the right decision. I really like how this play opens up the floor on the ball side, but keeps the defenders busy on the weak side. The 1st option is a dibble handoff between the 5 and 3 The 2nd option is a kickout to the 1 and then a Pick & Roll with the 5 to open up three different looks See More
