Favorite Send to FastDrawSyracuse ran this "Scissor Floppy DHO" set mutiple times in their First Four win over Arizona State. If the intiial DHO does not allow the guard to turn the corner, the big flips into an invert ball screen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawLoyola Chicago ran the best set play of the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. This "Punch Hammer" set resulted in a wide open 3, to tie the game, late in the second half. The post entry sucks in the help defense, before the baseline skip pass (HAMMER ACTION) led to the important 3pt shot. The Ramblers of Loyola Chicago went on to upset Miami, on a buzzer beater, and beat Nevada and Kansas State en route to the Final Four. Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Chicago Sky run this set which features the popular corner down screen option, into a DHO, that ends with an Elevator Screen. Favorite Send to FastDrawAlthough this set is not enthusiastically run, or defended, it is nontheless a good action. The intitial set up looks like it is going to be your basic dribble handoff into a ball screen action, but instead it is a quick pitch to a flare for a 3pt look, or a slip to the rim. Ran with some pace, this could be a really good quick transition action. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe University of Houston runs an incredibly effective offense. This set is designed to get a mismatch and the ball in space with shooters surrounding him. Michigan switched this defensively, which for most teams in the country a 1 to 5 or 1 to 4 ball screen would present serious mismatch problems. If defense does not switch, there is either a layup, three, or long closeout to be had. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a counter from the base action I diagramed entitled, "Toledo Rockets - Horns Floppy." This is a very simple yet effective counter you can run with this set. The video below is not of this set itselft, but the base horns floppy action. 5 will attempt to bury defender as 2 comes off screen. While this is happening, 1 and 4 set a double stagger screen away for 3 in the corner. This is a great time for several things: 1) 5 in a post isolation situation while help side is working through the stagger. 2) Obviously a 3pt opportunity for 3 if you have a 5 that garners a lot of attention. 3) While the stagger is occuring, if 5 were to sprint into a side ball screen for 2, that would leave 2 a wide open driving line off of a reject of 5's screen. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is great action to get a spread ball screen with lots of midline movement, and then also a chance for a deep post up. Kansas opened up its Champions Classic game vs Duke with this set, and runs this with great pace and execution, however it is well defended by the Blue Devils. A key point is the skip pass before the post entry. If the help side defender is tagging on the post, then skip and immediately enter the ball like Kansas does. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great set from Gonzaga Coach Mark Few. It appears that 5 is sprinting into a ball screen, but actualy will recieve the pass and look to hit the guard cutting backdoor. If 5 is overplayed, this is a great backdoor opportunity for him as well. If the backdoor cut is not there, then everyone holds and 5 has a double gap to drive his man from the top of the key. Favorite Send to FastDrawOne of the things that Texas does best is simplicity. They have shot creators and playmakers surrounded by great positional length, and with the addition of elite level athleticism in Greg Brown they are even more versatile. Shaka Smart's approach to offense in Austin has been predicated on spacing the floor wide, using middle and twisted ball screens with pogo stick big men who put pressure on the rim and let players go make plays. They also place a premium on off ball cuts. The Longhorns do a great job of backdoor cuts if the defender loses sight of them while helping to stop dribble penetration. #Top25XsOs: Honorable Mention Teams | Teams 25-21 | Teams 20-16 | Teams 15-11 | Teams 10-6 | Teams 5-1 *New customers use discount code SAVE10 at purchase* See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawDrill to work on defensive toughness. Defense must get 3 defensive stops in a row before they are off and a new defensive team can start. Can add that defenses must change defense every possession (zone, man, how they will defend ball screen, double post, etc.). Click for more #PlayerDevelopmentWeek content! See More
