Today's "Play of the Day" is a set that the Dallas Mavericks ran in the playoffs last year.
They do a good job of getting their two best players involved in space and force the defense to make a tough decision.
This play is most effective if you have a 4 who can dribble and pass.
1 goes into dribble handoff with 2. As 2 comes off side pick & roll from 5, 3 and 4 set a double screen for 1 who can look to curl or pop for a shot.
If 1 doesn't have anything, 3 sneaks a backscreen on X5 to get 5 a lay-up.
This half-court set, powered by FastDraw, clears the baseline and gives your point guard the option to hit your post rolling to the rim off of a ball screen or a shooter coming off of a weakside screen.
Today we introduce you to the "Gaggle" Screen, where the 2nd screener in a staggered double slips the screen, and cuts off the 1st screener's hip. Add this to your FastDraw playbook for a great half-court set.
This play, from Coach Brandon Rosenthal, is the first in our new series of 'Post Ups', featuring FastDraw contributors from all over the coaching profession. Coach Rosenthal details great movement to stretch the defense and set up a ball screen at the top of the key.
