Basketball Play - QGW Stack Low vs. Zone

QGW Stack Low vs. Zone

Michael Bowden 12/07/2012

This a nice quick hitter set vs. a zone. The timing in this play is essential. You want your 2 coming across those 2 low screens just as the 3 is bringing it the middle of the floor. The weak side of the zone will have to decide to cover the 2 player or stay locked on the post players. If the zone rotates quickly, you have the 4 player coming across the middle at the end of the set to receive a nice low post catch. See More

Basketball Play - Missouri BLOB 2

Missouri BLOB 2

Dana Beszczynski 12/07/2012

Missouri Baseline-out-of-Bounds series Part 2 Once again as demonstrated in our first look at the Tigers Out-of-Bounds set, you can see good spacing, open floor, and a good use of the screens to make something happen Missouri keeps their composure when the set doesn't work and moves to open space eventually knocking down an open three on an unselfish kick-out pass by a good passing Rosburg See More

Basketball Play - Sooner Drill

Sooner Drill

Fabian McKenzie 12/05/2012

This is a drill we have used in our warmup. We use different variations within the drill. Players line up at half court. Each player has a ball Pass to coach, cut hard to rim and receive a pass from coach. Take a traditional layup. We also use a two foot power layup. Variation - we add a blocking pad to simulate contact at the rim Players get their own rebound and must make 2 changes of direction on way back to half court. (Between legs, crossover, behind back, etc) They go back to the same line where they started. In this variation we make a reverse layup underneath the basket In this variation we have the players receive a pass just before the 3 point line. They must jump stop, shot fake and attack the elbow for a one dribble pull up jump shot. We prefer the players use a crossover step when they attack the middle Variation 1 - Have the players pull up for a 3 point shot. Variation 2 - After the shot fake, we have the players crossover and dribble to opposite side of rim for a little running hook shot. See More

Basketball Play - A look at the Lakers' pick-and-roll sans Nash (Pt. 1)

A look at the Lakers' pick-and-roll sans Nash (Pt. 1)

Mark Travis 12/03/2012

The Los Angeles Lakers have had their ups-and-downs since Mike D'Antoni was named their new head coach, which was expected with Steve Nash being out, but the one consistent theme with the offense so far has been how well Kobe Bryant is working out of the pick-and-roll. Forget scoring, which Bryant is doing at an elite level even in his 17th season, Kobe, whose reputation as a gunner has sullied his beautiful passing ability, is facilitating the offense extremely well in the abscene of Nash. On this play we can see how Kobe makes a great read to find a wide open shooters as well as how much attention Dwight Howard draws onn the pick-and-roll. This is the kind of play that D'Antoni is thinking about when he considers starting Antawn Jamison over Pau Gasol for spacing purposes. See More
