Zone Offense: Baseline Overload - "Kentucky" - FastModel Sports

About This Play/Drill

We used this set to overload the baseline against a 3-2 or 2-3 zones. Our objective is to get the ball to the middle, but sometimes the corner three is there if the defense doesn't shift correctly. The timing of 5's seal is key to getting the curl into the middle. Once the ball goes to the middle, there are great opportunities to score or skip the ball. See video clip below.

  • 1 enters to 3, receives the pass back, and gap dribbles before reversing. On the pass to the 2 we want to be in between guard/wing defensive bump

  • 1 passes to 2, 4 sprints to the opposite corner, 3 curls off 5 and flashes to the mid post, 5 seals the middle man creating an overload. Our primary option on this is the 3 man curling

  • 3 finds soft spot in the zone and 1 floats to the back side
