About This Play/Drill

This is my 3rd set of BLOB plays...this time a Baseline Series.  We like to go with 1 specific set up unique to each season and to disguise a handful of sets in the same set up.  So far I have shared a "Shapes" Series and a "Letter's" Series.  Hopefully these with small adaptations to your personnel and use vs. Man or Zone can help win the "Special Situations" portion of each game for you.

  • BASE 1- Baseline 1 starts with posts to outside and guards opposite the ball. Best shooter sprints ball side corner as 1. 4 and 5 will look for slips, seals.

  • 5 after 3 flys by will look for lob while 4 will seal. Ball enters in to 3 who drags with the dribble as 1 steps in. Kick back to 1 for a 3. GREAT ZONE BLOB... May put best shooter throwing it in as well.

  • BASE 2- This is pretty simple, but there's a lot of activity to lead to an easy basket. Sometimes we start this at the elbow against aggressive clubs.

Rule- Opposite, Ball Side, Opposite, Ball Side

  • Looking for any cut to hoop. All players have option to slip if overplayed. Ball side wing, or last cutter is what we are looking for. 4 and 5 release to top once they cut through. May invert players too to start.

  • BASE 3- Amazing how much of this you see in the WNBA, but superemely effective. Wrinkle to "Screen the Screener" action. We're looking for 3 things.

    1. 3 will come off of 2 screens as to corner for jumper.

  • 2. 4 will come off of 5's screen for a short shot himself.

    3. 5 will screen and seal this as well for the 3rd look.

Good Man BLOB but can be altered as Zone BLOB.
