About This Play/Drill

The Toronto Raptors have utilized elements of the Flex offense throughout their playbook over the years. A consistent setting that Head Coach Dwane Casey has displayed with Flex actions in is out-of-bounds plays This set leverages the team's guards and their versatility as finishers, screeners, and perimeter shooters. Additionally, that versatility allows the team to invert their personnel's positioning on the court and put the defense in unusual scenarios.

  • 5 sets backscreen for 2 and flashes to strong side elbow to recieve pass from inbounder
  • 2, positioned at low block, sets cross screen for inbounder. 5 passes to 3 at opposite elbow to create better passing angle for flex cutter. If pass is not available, 3 has freedom to isolate, shoot a jumper, or wait for next progression of play.
  • 2 uses down screen from 5 and gets pass from 3. If defender gets hung up on screen, 2 can shoot. If defender trails, can play the 2-on-1 advantage by driving.
