About This Play/Drill

Being able to change pace while dribbling is an important skill for all players to have. This drill will help players understand how to change speeds in a competitive way.  

  • Basketball Play - Ball Handling Drill - Change of Pace Shadow
  • Basketball Play - Ball Handling Drill - Change of Pace Shadow
  • Basketball Play - Ball Handling Drill - Change of Pace Shadow
  • Can use any lines/cones for the starting and ending points.

  • Rules:

    Player 1 is trying to make it to their finish line before player 2 makes it to their finish line, or get player 2 to run into them.

    Player 2 must stay directly behind player 1.

    Player 2 cannot pass or run into player 1.

    Player 1 can use stops and hesitations.

    Game starts on player 1 movement.

  • Variations:

    2 basketballs per player

    Player 1 can use a retreat dribble.
