About This Play/Drill
Johnny Dawkins played for and coached under Coach K at Duke and this influence can be seen by the good ball and player movement the Cardinals use in their Motion Offense
The Cardinals keep the floor spaced for the kick-out pass and spot up 3 and keep the lane clear for good cuts looking to catch the defense
1 (Randle - 5) makes the entry pass to 3 (Huestis - 24) just above the 3 pt line
4 (Powell - 33) pops out to the wing and receives the pass as 3 (Huestis - 24) relocates to the ball side corner
5 (Nastic - 4) slides over to the ball side post for a possible entry pass
2 (Brown - 21) cuts hard to the middle of the lane just below the FT line looking for a quick pass
4 (Powell - 33) reverses the ball to 1 (Randle - 5) at the top of the key
2 (Brown - 21) steps up for the pass as 1 (Randle - 5) cuts off him looking for a quick hand-off and penetration to the open side - if there's nothing available, he cuts out to the ball side corner
5 (Nastic - 4) steps in and looks to seal his man in the lane
2 (Brown - 21) passes to 1 (Randle - 5)
5 (Nastic - 4) slides over to the ball side post and receives the entry pass
2 (Brown - 21) cuts into the lane and quickly back out replacing 3 (Huestis- 24) who dives hard in the lane looking for a give & go pass with the post
4 (Powell - 33) spots up on the weak side
