Why do I have to renew each year?

Can I purchase using a school Purchase Order?
Yes. Fill out the Support Form indicating which products you wish to license and request that an invoice be emailed to you for processing with a PO. You will be emailed an invoice along with further instructions for submitting the PO and downloading the software.
Can I place an order for the software and pay for it with a check?
Yes. If using a school PO, please see above. If not using a PO, fill out the Support Form indicating which products you wish to license and request that an invoice be emailed to you for payment by check. You will be emailed an invoice along with further instructions for mailing payment and downloading the software.
Does the software work on Mac and PC?
Yes, all products are designed to work seamlessly across platforms.
Does the software work on an iPad or mobile device?
Not at this time. For now you can export plays to pdf and view the pdf's on an iPad or Mobile Device.
How many computers can I install the software on?
Each license is good for installation on one computer, on an annual renewal basis.
How can I get a receipt for payment?
You will automatically be emailed a payment receipt after purchase. You can request an additional copy by filling out a Support Form.
Where does my data reside?
All user data is stored on your local hard drive in Master.fdb for FastDraw; in Master.fsb for FastScout. No copy of your data is stored by Fast Model Technologies.
Backing Up or Moving Data
Where is the Master.fdb or Master.fsb data folder located?
Mac > Mac HD\Library\Users\yourusername\FastDraw Files
Windows > C:\Users\yourusername\FastDraw Files
For FastScout, it’s FastScout Files
Do I need to backup my data?
User data is backed up automatically by the software every 5 minutes that the software is being used. The default location for backup is the same as default fdb and fsb locations (e.g. c:\Users\yourusername\FastDraw Files\Local Backup)
Should I set a different backup location?
It is generally good practice to store back ups in a location external to your computer so that in the event your computer experiences hardware problems or your organization re-images your computer, your data is not lost. If you change your backup location in the program, you will need to make sure that the backup device is attached when running your program. Alternatively, you can periodically just copy your Master.FDB and/or Master.FSB file to a safe backup location (see below).
How do I set a different backup location?
- Go to the File menu and select Program Settings
- Click the Backup Location tab.
- Now Browse to a place that is NOT your computer's hard drive. (i.e. online storage like DropBox or an external hard drive). This location must be accessible whenever the application is running.
How do I backup my data to a flash drive?
Navigate to the Master.fdb or Master.fsb location on your local hard drive (see above if unsure where it is located) and copy and paste or drag and drop it onto the flash drive.
How do I move the software to a different computer?
Make sure you have your activation key from activation e-mail.
Backup your data to an external drive such as a flash drive that can easily be moved to the computer you wish to move the software to.
Follow backup procedure outlined below, then deactivate/reactivate software:
- Open FastDraw and go to Help—>Deactivate software on the old machine.
- Give it about 10 minutes to process, then install and activate the software on the new machine using the instructions in the activation e-mail
- To restore your library from backup, choose File-->Import from Backup and choose the file you backed up to on the external drive.
How long does the download process take?
That is all based on your connection speed, but on average less than 3 minutes
How long does the install process take?
Less than 1 minute
Will I receive an install disk in the mail?
No. All of our products can be downloaded from the instructions sent via e-mail so you are up and running within minutes after purchasing!
I am not able to install software, because I do not have administration rights, what do I do?
Please contact your organization or team’s IT professional for further assistance.
Does each coach on the same staff use that same product key?
Yes, all coaches on the same account use the same activation key. Your key allows you to install up to the number of seats you purchase for that account.
Activation
How do I get my product key?
You will receive a product key via email within minutes after purchasing.
If I lose my product key, how can I get another one?
Fill out the Support Form and request your key be sent to you.
What is the best way to enter the product key into FastDraw?
We strongly recommend that you copy and paste directly from the activation e-mail.
Why would I need to deactivate FastDraw?
In order to move it to another computer or if your computer is upgraded and you need to reinstall. See instructions in the above section for backing up database and moving from one computer to another.
Do I need to be online to activate FastDraw?
Yes. The activation requires an internet connection.
Renewals
How do I renew my license?
Make sure you are connected to the Internet and then open FastDraw and click Help > Purchase or Renew Licenses and then click "Renew". This will take you to the renewal portal for your account.
What if the number of licenses in the portal is not the number of licenses I want to renew?
From Help > Purchase or Renew Licenses, click "Purchase Additional Licenses" (instead of Renew). This will allow you to change the quantity and have the same effect as renewing your current license.
I renewed my license but upon opening FastDraw or FastScout, I receive the message that I need to renew or proceed in read only mode, what do I do?
Be sure you have the activation code from the activation e-mail. If not, fill out the Support Form and request your key be sent to you.
- Proceed in read only mode
- Select ‘Help’ and ‘Deactivate Software’
- When asked if you want to deactivate on this computer, select ‘Yes’
- You will receive a message that says Deactivation Complete, press ‘OK’ and the program will close.
- Re-open the program and when you receive the welcome message and a prompt to enter the activation code, copy and paste the activation code where prompted
• To paste the activation code on a Mac computer, please press Command V
• To paste on a Windows computer, please press Control V
My FastDraw is performing slowly?
Close FastDraw > Restart your computer > Reopen FastDraw
My laptop does not have internet access, how can I get my FastDraw updates?
You cannot. You must be online to get updates
When I try and open FastDraw get this message “Please update your java runtime, and restart FastDraw”?
Mac > use software update feature
Windows > the FastDraw installer auto installs the latest Java version. If for any reason the Java gets corrupted then just re-install FastDraw which will auto update the java runtime to the latest version.
I am having trouble printing from FastDraw, however I can print from all my other applications?
Most likely your printer is sending a message to FastDraw that the print is out of paper. This will cause this issue in FastDraw. The printer may not be out of paper, but for some reason it is getting this message. Please contact your IT professional to have this message addressed and have your printer reset.
If the user receives a message that the data is already open by someone else what should the user click?
This usually occurs when the program is closed improperly or crashed. Click to Override file lock.
When I try and run the update on my Vista I get this message “There was an error while downloading from license.fastdrawondemand.com\update... Please check you network connect”?
Right click on FastDraw desktop icon and click on run as administrator
If I deleted my desktop shortcut, how can I create another one?
Mac > Right or ctrl+click on FastDraw app, create alias, can drag and drop anywhere
Windows > Start Menu > All Programs > FastDraw > Right Click on FastDraw > Send To > Desktop (create shortcut)
My laptop does not have internet access, how can I download FastDraw?
Step 1: Download FastDraw to another computer that has internet access.
Step 2: Save the installer on the desktop.
Step 3: Drag and drop the installer onto an external USB drive.
Step 4: Drag and drop the installer onto the laptop that does not have internet access.
Step 5: Follow the normal install steps
My laptop does not have internet access, how can I activation my FastDraw?
There is no way around this. You must be connected to the Internet for less than 5 seconds to process activation.
Do I need to be online to watch the how to videos?
Yes.
