Favorite Send to FastDrawThis clear out play can be used to score quickly in three ways. One, as 3 and 5 clear to the right side, 4 catches at elbow and drives left to open side to score. Second option is hand off from 4-1 for penetration by 1. If 4 fakes the hand off, 3 comes out of th corner using screens from 2 and 5. Give it a try! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawBaseline out of bounds play run by the CT Sun in their 66-62 loss to the Mystics 6/7/2013. If the defense switches the 4 and 2 backscreen then 4 can slip to the basket with the mismatch. If 5's defender extends the screen and disconects from 5, 5 can slip to the basket. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play has four scoring options starting with a high post rub cut by 3 off 5. Second, 1 drives off 5's on ball screen to score in the paint. Option #3 is a pass to 3 comig off double screen by 2-4 for a shot. Last option on 3's catch is 2 curling over 4 and 4 sealing to catch and score. Give it a try! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawGame 3 of the NBA Finals was all about the San Antonio Spurs' role players, so what better way to recognize them than by drawing up one of their many 3-pointers. After an impressive 3 quarters from Danny Green and Gary Neal the Spurs continued their hot shooting by ranning this stagger action to get Neal yet another 3-pointer. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a set that Butler ran often for Gordon Hayward (3 in this set) to get him an ISO opportunity on his favorite side of the court. 2 cutting hard off of the stagger screen is essential so that x3 helps, giving 5 a great opportunity and angle to flare 3 out to the wing. Misdirection feel of this play by having all of the action go to the weak side up until the point of the flare from 5 also helps make this an effective set. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Heat ran this play in the 3rd quarter of their game 5 win over the Pacers. The actions is very similar to the play posted here http://www.fastmodelsports.com/library/basketball/fastdraw/2187/play-Elbow-Weak-Stagger The difference is instead of 4 screening 1 into a 2 man game with 3, 4 turns back to set the ball screen. Haslem's man was zoning the middle of the lane to protect a back door cut, a hard curl, or a slip. By having Haslem set the screen there was no type of help coverage on the ball screen and James had a wide open 17 ft. jump shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn the 4th quarter of Game 1 of the 2013 NBA Finals, the Miami Heat ran this play against the San Antonio Spurs. Forced to help on Mike Miller curling into the lane, this allowed Chris Bosh to pop out for an open jumper. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawMemphis ran this play at the 5:21 mark of their game three loss to the Spurs. This layup by Randolph put Memphis up by 11. The Spurs made two consecuctive defensive errors on this play. First, Randolph was doubled in the post leaving Gasol wide open at the free throw line. After Pondexter ball faked to the free throw line both Spurs guarding Randolph ran to the free throw line. Z-Bo was left unguarded on the block for the layup. Regardless of the Spurs defensive lapses, this is a good set involving screening to get the ball into the post. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawSpurs opening play of the third quarter in their game three win over Memphis. The set up to the side ball screen is effective. Manu rejects the side ball screen and drives to the baseline throwing the running out of bounds one haded pass like Steve Nash. The help is in the lane and Duncan sets a great flare screen for a wide open Green in the corner for the 3 point shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play uses false screening action to set up a right side isolation opportunity for 3. On 1's dribble out to left wing, 3 uses 4-5 screen to get open on top. On the catch, 2 cuts under basket to left corner. 4 and 5 screen for 2 to occupy their defenders as 3 drives down the lane to score one on one. Give it a try! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawTip plays from Mike Fratello's time with Memphis. If you have a good idea you are going to win the tip then try to run either of these. If you're a pressing team it's great to get a quick score, set your press up right away and try to get a quick turnover to start the game with great momentum. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe double screen action opens the gap for penetration from the wing by the 3 man When x5 steps up to help, the ball handler has multiple options to hit for a good scoring chance See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a zipper set that is run to get the ball in the hands of your best decision maker (1 in this play) and gives you plenty of scoring oppertunities. The spurs run a variation of this play with much success by putting Parker at the 1. Ginobli at the 2 (who can get a 3 on the extra pass from 3) and Danny Green at the 3. The skills of these players puts a lot of stress on the defense and makes this quick hitter hard to guard. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a baseline out of bounds play that I ran for my Junior Varsity squad this past season. I initially drew it up figuring it would work well versus man defense. However, as the season progressed, I found that this play worked almost every time against a zone (especially 2-3) zone. It takes some time to teach younger players how to screen in different situations but my 5's become great at sealing under the rim and almost always resulted in a lay-up. See More
