Basketball Play - Texas Tech Red Raiders - Motion Floppy Flare

Texas Tech Red Raiders - Motion Floppy Flare

Dave Nedbalek 04/08/2019

This is a sample of the organic nature of the Texas Tech offense. It is hard to know whether or not this is a designed action after the floppy with Culver due to the constant player freedom to screen off ball at any time but this does give you a preview of the certain type of actions you will be responsible to communicate through and guard when playing vs. Texas Tech. Texas Tech Red Raiders - Iverson Point Ricky

This is another simple set that has high volume results. Depending on how the defense plays back-screens you can save this wrinkle for a key moment to get a great shooter a shot. If the defender is jumping to the ball and getting through the backscreen first the cutter can simply cut back out on the weak side for a wide open fade. The big can read the catch and go right into a step up screen if there is no advantage on the catch as well. A great wrinkle would be to slip your 5 man on the down-screen if there is switching or miscommunication. Blog Post: Texas Tech Defense Puts Opponents on Red Alert See More

Basketball Play - Texas Tech Red Raiders - Hot Action

Texas Tech Red Raiders - Hot Action

Dave Nedbalek 04/08/2019

This is an extremely difficult action to make x5 guard but is incredibly simple to run. We call this "Hot Action" which is a back screen off-ball, followed immediately by an on-ball screen. If the big tags the cutter on the back-screen as he should, unless they are switching, this puts him late to his ball screen coverage. Simple, yet effective. Basketball Play - Virginia Cavaliers - Elevator Decoy

Virginia Cavaliers - Elevator Decoy

Doug Brotherton 04/07/2019

This set is my favorite of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. Virginia ran the elevator set out of a box formation. As Auburn thought it had guarded it well, Virginia built in a counter with a screen for a throwback on the baseline drive. This resulted in a wide open 3 in the Final Four, and Virginia went on to play in the National Championship game. Blog Post: Virginia's Elite Efficiency on Both Sides of the Ball See More

Basketball Play - Virginia Cavaliers - EOG STS SLOB

Virginia Cavaliers - EOG STS SLOB

Virginia ran this play to get them into the championship game, drawing a foul on the three-point shot and giving them three free throws to take the lead . Kyle Guy (3) made a three-pointer on the previous possession to bring the deficit to 1. After Auburn hit a free throw to get their lead to 2, Virginia was able to get the ball into the front court and call a timeout with 1.5 seconds left. The initial option on this play was a lob to the rim for Mamadi Diakite. The secondary option for the lead went back to Guy cutting to the corner off the screen from 5. Basketball Play - Auburn Tigers - Flat Clear Cut BLOB

Auburn Tigers - Flat Clear Cut BLOB

Jordan Petersen 03/31/2019

Auburn ran this set in the OT of the Kentucky game to go to the Final Four. Auburn cuts everyone outside of the 3 point line to open up the lane. Jared Harper (player 1) does a great job of delaying and acting like he is not in the play before violently cutting to the basket for a layup. #FastModelMadness Blog Post: Final Four Team Breakdown - Auburn's Explosive Offense and Pressure Defense See More

Basketball Play - Texas A&M (W) - Double Stack High-Low / Triangle & 2 Attack

Texas A&M (W) - Double Stack High-Low / Triangle & 2 Attack

Aseem Rastogi 03/30/2019

In their matchup with Notre Dame, Texas A&M had to deal with a Triangle and 2 on their two best scorers, Chennedy Carter and Kayla Wells. They were ready with another excellent quick hitter to get a potential post to post high low for a layup. Using Carter and wells to create space, they were able to use well-timed pin screens and the defense against themselves to find openings to score. See More

Texas A&M (W) - Double Low / Triangle & 2 Attack

Aseem Rastogi 03/30/2019

With 2:45 left in the 1st quarter against Notre Dame, Texas A&M ran this beautiful quick hitter against ND's Triangle and 2 defense. With elite scorers like Chennedy Carter and Kayla Wells, Notre Dame employed a junk defense to slow them down. TAMU was ready and ran this to get a 2 on 1 at the rim. Though they didn't score (blocked layup), the preparation for this defensive adjustment and the players' ability to execute was fantastic. A good set to keep in the back pocket for teams with the luxury of having two stellar scorers. See More
