Basketball Play - Dr. Dish C2E Explosive D and Wing Curl Options

Dr. Dish C2E Explosive D and Wing Curl Options

Rick Allison 12/10/2015

These movement sequences combine an emphasis on lateral defensive quickness and wing curl shooting options with precise footwork. Each sequence results in a different movement pattern and shot, but builds on an attack counter strategy. This is certainly a technique development drill, but can be modified to add an antagonist to provide initial cue for defensive acceleration direction, and then rotational closeout context on the curl. Dr. Dish can be set with a tempo long enough for the option which requires the most time and shooter can machine gun feet until Dr. Dish passes the ball to start each option sequence. Or, if coach is passer then the Dr. Dish remote can be used. If used for technique development, the sequences should be performed on both sides of the basket, either alternately or repeating the 6 sequences on the opposite side. See More

Basketball Play - Dr. Dish 10-Spot Touch-Bounce Shooting

Dr. Dish 10-Spot Touch-Bounce Shooting

Rick Allison 12/07/2015

This drill utilizes the Dr. Dish shooting machine to facilitate a continuous flow of shooting repetition with variation for three shooters. Variation parameters are location (i.e., shooting angle), ball handling moves and initiating dribble hand. Each shooter takes three consecutive shots to establish a repetition rhythm and allow a short refinement opportunity. Ball handling variations include different crossovers, combinations and counters. The drill framework can be used for other ball handling and shooting footwork movements, as well. See More

Basketball Play - 5 CONTINUOUS GAME-LIKE FINISHING MOVES

5 CONTINUOUS GAME-LIKE FINISHING MOVES

Marc Skelton 10/27/2015

This continuous game-like finishing drill works on 5 different moves from 5 different spots on the floor. These moves can be attempted at different spots using left or right hands. This drill also helps develop footwork (pivots), rip through, and ball fakes. We name the moves after NBA players as it is easier to remember and embrace. Bonus:1) Add Euro step 2) Add a blocking pad to finish with contact. See More

Basketball Play - David Blatt Horns 1 Set Play

David Blatt Horns 1 Set Play

Scott Peterman 02/19/2015

David Blatt been around the Israeli and Euroleague basketball circuit. Including coaching for Maccabi Tel Aviv (they de bezt, alweyz de bezt) and the Russian National Team (Kirilenko, Mozgov, Shved). He coached Anthony Parker back into the NBA. Names don't exactly get the point across, but let it be known, that he has coached winning teams, almost exclusively. And thats the point of the game. From what I can gather Blatt's teams run a lot through a horns offense. Which, if you don't know, puts two guys- one on either- high post (witch's nipple), two guys in opposite corner/wings and starts with the ball handler at the top of the key. It is not a triangle offense, but it does revolve around cerebral players creating space with passing, smart cutting and good footwork. Certainly a proprietor of the Triangle has respect for this, a verySpurs-y set of offensive goals. Everybody needs touches to make this kitten purr. Everyone needs to fill the open spaces that relate to their skill set, and everyone must become a threat when they have the ball. Basketball Play - Racers PG Iso

Racers PG Iso

Dana Beszczynski 02/15/2014

The Murray State Racers have in Cameron Payne a Freshman with ultra quick footwork and the ability to breakdown defenders 1 v 1. This set utilizes that quickness starting in a 1-4 low set and using the wing man to set a screen on x5 giving the 5 man a chance to sprint to set a screen thus eliminating help. Payne reads the defender, rejects the screen and attacks the post side where he rubs his defender into the post and throws up a floater to the basket. See More

Basketball Play - Cone Handle Shots

Cone Handle Shots

Kyle Gilreath 07/24/2013

I love this drill because it works on several components of improvement all at once: Ball Handling: Force your players out of their comfort zone and to dribble lower and quicker each time, that is the only way to improve Footwork: Creating space and finishing with the least amount of dribbles Finishing Through/Over/Around the Defense: This drill consists of a multiple of different types of shots and finishes that are great to add to your players' repertoire. Basketball Play - Schrempf Shooting

Schrempf Shooting

Daniel Murphy 05/29/2013

Saw Detlef Schrempf demo this on Youtube. It's one of my favorite shooting drills near the basket because it requires good footwork. If a player knows how to position their body and use their feet to set up a drop step, hook, and up and under they should be able to score near the basket. After catching and drop stepping, player 1 continues curling around the cone and catching a pass. The next shot is a catch and shoot hook. The third shot is and up and under. The fourth shot is if a player is denied a pass in the post they spins away from the defense for the lob pass. After getting the footwork down without defense then dummy defense should be applied. The defense should over play to allow the offense player to get a feel for the reads. As an offensive players skill and comfort level increases with the dummy defense, then the defense should increase their intensity. See More

Basketball Play - 4 Shot Shooting Drill

4 Shot Shooting Drill

Greg White 05/27/2013

This is a great shooting drill to use in your individula shooting workouts or if space permits to use as part of your team practice. The key is shooting at game speed from game spots. The 4 shots are: lay-up, elbow jumper. flare jumper and transition jumper. The footwork and speed of the drill make this a great drill to add to your workout. See More
