Basketball Play - Las Vegas Aces - Iverson Baseline Double

Las Vegas Aces - Iverson Baseline Double

Aseem Rastogi 04/16/2019

When you have a dynamic scorer like Kayla McBride, you MUST find a way to get them the ball where and when they want it. The Aces drink from this well quite often, as they try to get McBride coming off a double stagger on the baseline. She is so adept at using screens and is one of the most explosive players in the world - this quick hitter allows her to get the ball with a quick shot/drive decision and plenty of space to work with. Basketball Play - Las Vegas Aces - Back Screen ATO

Las Vegas Aces - Back Screen ATO

Aseem Rastogi 04/16/2019

Simple, but effective, this quick hitter is used to get an open high low catch in the post to score. If that is not open, the screener is then isolated against a defender closing fast, creating an immediate shot/drive decision. Basketball Play - Texas Tech Red Raiders - Motion Sample: Step Up

Texas Tech Red Raiders - Motion Sample: Step Up

Dave Nedbalek 04/08/2019

This is another preview of an action that is beautiful that occurred organically in the Texas Tech motion offense. Of all the actions we prepare our team to guard, we don't guard post up defense to pin down into a double step-up ball screen very well. This action puts great pressure on the rim because of both the athletic ability of Tariq Owens and the vision and beautiful pass by Matt Mooney. Basketball Play - Texas Tech Red Raiders - Iverson Point Ricky

Texas Tech Red Raiders - Iverson Point Ricky

This is another simple set that has high volume results. Depending on how the defense plays back-screens you can save this wrinkle for a key moment to get a great shooter a shot. If the defender is jumping to the ball and getting through the backscreen first the cutter can simply cut back out on the weak side for a wide open fade. The big can read the catch and go right into a step up screen if there is no advantage on the catch as well. A great wrinkle would be to slip your 5 man on the down-screen if there is switching or miscommunication. Blog Post: Texas Tech Defense Puts Opponents on Red Alert See More

Basketball Play - Texas Tech Red Raiders - Hot Action

Texas Tech Red Raiders - Hot Action

Dave Nedbalek 04/08/2019

This is an extremely difficult action to make x5 guard but is incredibly simple to run. We call this "Hot Action" which is a back screen off-ball, followed immediately by an on-ball screen. If the big tags the cutter on the back-screen as he should, unless they are switching, this puts him late to his ball screen coverage. Simple, yet effective. Basketball Play - Ohio State Buckeyes - Weave Point Wide Fan

Ohio State Buckeyes - Weave Point Wide Fan

Dave Nedbalek 03/26/2019

Love this set. I am a huge fan of getting skilled bigs at the top of the key with the ball and space. The misdirection to begin softens the defense up and then there are countless possibilities you can finish this set with. I love the natural push of the drive off of the weave and Chicago action handoff into the flare on the weak side. That flare can be easily mis-guarded and result in a slip and a wide open layup for the screener. I love the built in throw-back, or "shake" action with the ball screen, roll, and corner lift as well. A lot of bang for your buck with this one. See More

Basketball Play - Florida Gators - 23 X Rugby

Florida Gators - 23 X Rugby

Dave Nedbalek 03/26/2019

This is a great set lifting the 5 up to the nail. 1 is potentially open off the lob on the initial cut. 5 pops off of 1's back cut where his man must tag 1 or he will be open. 5 goes straight into a Rugby action as we call it (dribble handoff with a player inside in the 3pt line looping out and around 5 on the handoff). A counter or wrinkle to this set would be 5 faking the handoff and keeping it himself on the drive. See More

Basketball Play - Atlanta Hawks - 24 PNR Trail

Atlanta Hawks - 24 PNR Trail

Matt Barnthouse 03/24/2019

This is an interesting set by the Hawks. Definitely takes advantage of having 4 players that on the floor that can shoot. Allows Kevin Huerter (2) and Dewayne Dedmon (5) to operate in a pick and roll with adequate spacing all around. What I like about this is the timing involved. When Dedmon recognized Huerter had his man beat, he waited a about a quarter of a second to roll so that Huerter could have an opportunity at clean look at rim, while still being there as a trailer should the defense overhelp. This is a lot harder to run if your team does not have 4 players that are threats to shoot, because there is less spacing if they are able to gap the 4, making it more difficult to get to the rim, even if the ball handler beats his man!
