This Set Play run by Murray State from a SLOB situation is really well designed. The Racers use three sets of double staggered screens to get themselves into a position for the best shot in the offense. The timing and execution of this play was great to watch and Payne does a good job getting his post man a touch inside after a perfect read of the defense, using the zipper cut up the lane to take advantage of the defense cheating over the top. Florida Gulf Coast was the darling of last year's NCAA Tournament and former Coach Andy Enfield landed a job at USC based on last year's success. Joe Dooley took over "Dunk City" and has the Eagles once again in contention for an automatic bid. After a long career on the sidelines next to Bill Self at Kansas, Dooley brought his philosophy to FGCU and this year the Eagles at the top of the Atlantic Sun Conference with a 14-4 record and a share of the Conference Title. Here against Duke, Notre Dame came down and ran a 2nd option whereby they incorporate the cross court pass into a sprint ball screen action with their 5 man Auguste - 30. Grant - 22 is so good at getting in the lane with his quickness and ball handling ability that the defense on Connaughton - 24 is forced to help opening up the lane for a baseline cut and lay-up. This is a very nice set play out of their Secondary Offense. Beginning with a down screen releasing the wing outside for the pass, he immediately looks inside for a post-up situation. On the weak side, a double stagger is being set for the shooter who comes off looking for a possible catch & shoot action out of the post-up. UNC does a very good job running their Secondary actions and this is just one of the gems you can use in your offense at any level. See More
