Basketball Play - MSU-Moorhead Fake Down Screen Post Cross

MSU-Moorhead Fake Down Screen Post Cross

Wes Kosel 07/23/2015

The play starts with 3, 5, and 2 in a line all above the free-throw line. 5 is at the free-throw line, 2 and 3 on the wings. 1 passes to 2 then makes a shallow cut to the ball-side corner. 4 steps over to replace 1 and gets the ball from 2. 2 then screens for 1 in the corner. 5 moves away as if setting a down-screen for 3, but fakes it and pops out to the wing. 1 hits 2 in the corner as 3 doubles back to set a cross-screen for 5. 2 passes to 5 for an easy lay-up. Basketball Play - Miami Down Screen Ball Screen

Miami Down Screen Ball Screen

Kevin Bruinsma 07/12/2013

The Miami Heat ran this against the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals to eliminate #21 Tim Duncan from hedging or trapping the ball screen. By having #6 Lebron James play the 3 he could handle the ball and free the 1 man #30 Norris Cole up to set a down screen for the 5 man #1 Chris Bosh. This is how #6 Lebron James got so many pull up jumpers as the Spurs post were slow getting up to the ball screen. See More

Basketball Play - Knicks Pin Down Screen the Screener

Knicks Pin Down Screen the Screener

Daniel Murphy 05/13/2013

1st quarter play ran by the Knicks in thier game 5 loss to Boston. Having Felton set a down screen on Melo should prevent a switch. Much of the Celtics defense is geared to stopping Melo, so having Melo facilitate puts even more pressure on Boston's defense. Chandler set a great screen and Felton curled it perfectly for the open jumper. See More

Basketball Play - 12-13 Wisconsin Green Bay - High Post Entry with Back Screen, Cross Screen & Down Screen

12-13 Wisconsin Green Bay - High Post Entry with Back Screen, Cross Screen & Down Screen

Basketball HQ 03/23/2013

For this set make your high post entry to your best passing big. Line up your biggest wing opposite corner of where the high post entry pass is going, so if the defense switches guard to guard screening action, you have a size mismatch. Make sure you sell to your point guards that setting a good cross screen will help get them an open shot off of 5's down screen. This play is from the 2012-2013 Wisconsin Green Bay season. See More

Basketball Play - 10-11 Houston Rockets - Flare Screen with Down Screen

10-11 Houston Rockets - Flare Screen with Down Screen

Basketball HQ 03/01/2013

For this play you want to make sure that your two man is your best shooter/scorer. When he cuts off of the flare screen it may be over played, he has to do a good job of setting his defender up with 4 rescreening for a pin down. Your 3 man has to be able to make decisions and reads with 2 cutting off of the flare, and then the pin down, and the 4 man diving hard to the rim after the pin down screen. This play is from the 2010-2011 Houston Rockets season. See More

Basketball Play - Ball Screen with Cross Screen & Down Screen

Ball Screen with Cross Screen & Down Screen

Basketball HQ 02/10/2013

This play is from the 2010-2011 Houston Rockets season. The big key for this play to work is having a post player that can make a pass out of the post. You have to make sure you get the timing down of your 5 man rolling off of the ball screen into the cross screen from 2, and your 4 man receiving the pass from 1. If you can train your 4 man to make the read on slipping the down screen set for 2, you will be able to get him easy lay ups. See More
