Basketball Play - Badger 1-4 BLOB Low

Badger 1-4 BLOB Low

Dana Beszczynski 11/27/2013

The Wisconsin Badgers ran this BLOB play in their match-up against the Florida Gators on Tuesday night. It comes out of a 1-4 low set-up The guards begin by crossing trying to catch the defense in a "switch" situation which would possibly open up a quick hit inbounds pass on the weak side. If this doesn't happen, the 5 man sets a screen on the 2 who pops looking to catch & shoot if open. When the catch & shoot pass is not free, the Badgers utilize the SPNP as 5 pops to the corner off the ball screen looking to catch & shoot the 3 pt shot in the corner. The Badgers are such a disciplined team and execute their sets with great precision. See More

Virginia BLOB 1-4 Low

Dana Beszczynski 11/21/2013

The University of Virginia ran this 1-4 BLOB action against VCU. With the flex screen, the play has a quick hitting action to it off the inbounds pass and the pin down screen-the-screener action gives the shooter a chance to get off an open shot if the defense miscommunicates on the flex cut Here, the PG does a good job reading the defender and gets into the lane off the dribble. Basketball Play - MSU BLOB Double

MSU BLOB Double

Dana Beszczynski 11/18/2013

This BLOB was run by MSU to get their PG Trice a shot off the inbounds action. What made this possible was the miscommunication between the two defenders guarding Harris & Trice. They got caught in a switch and Trice's defender got pinned behind the screen giving the inbounder a clear pass off the double screen to the shooter. See More

Miami BLOB Step Back

Kevin Bruinsma 07/11/2013

The Miami Heat realized the San Antonio Spurs were sitting on certain baseline out of bounds plays after playing them 7 straight times and decided to throw a different wrinkle at them. Instead of the 4 & 5 setting a double screen for 1 or 3, #1 Chris Bosh set a back screen for the 4 man who dove right to the rim. #1 Bosh's man protects against the cut allowing #1 Bosh to pop for a wide open jumper. Louisville EOG Blob

Daniel Murphy 05/18/2013

With 10 seconds left in their 82-81 Sweet 16 upset win over Baylor, the Louisville women ran this play against Baylors full court press. 2 was wide open but Louisville couldn't throw the pass because 6'8 Griner was on the ball. If you have an inbounder who is matched up with a defender of a similar height this could work for you. Make sure to have the inbounder step back off the baseline to improve the angle to get the ball over the defender. See More
