Basketball Play - Multiple Shots

Multiple Shots

FastModel Sports 04/01/2015

How can you create (or recreate) drills that maximize the skills you are emphasizing to your team, while also integrating shots at the basket? For example, if you are running a drill that focuses on players attacking the basket from the wing and finishing at the hoop, you want to create a drill that gets your players as many reps as possible during that drill See More

Basketball Play - Ballscreen Shooting (2)

Ballscreen Shooting (2)

Kyle Gilreath 02/13/2015

Yesterday I shared Part 1 of Ballscreen Shooting which incorporated three different types of screening actions. The technique the throw-behind in Frame 1, is essentially a quick evade dribble. You are trying to throw the ball out in front of you, in an effort to create separation from the hedging defender, while also making it difficult for the initial defender to recover in time before the quick release jumper. Do not allow your players to just go through the motions, set a goal to reach during each set. Example: You MUST go 7-for-10 before moving to the next sequence. See More

Basketball Play - Pick & Roll Shooting Drill

Pick & Roll Shooting Drill

Kyle Gilreath 02/12/2015

This set of pick & roll shooting drills is one of my favorites for player development. There are 189 total moves below to work on different pick & roll coverages and methods of attack at the three most popular angles. In order to keep your workouts efficient and energetic, take just one action and focus on 3-4 moves within that action from all three angles. Do not allow your players to just go through the motions, set a goal to reach during each set. Example: You MUST make 7-10 before moving to the next sequence. See More

Basketball Play - C2E Crossover Spin-Handle Permutations

C2E Crossover Spin-Handle Permutations

Rick Allison 01/16/2015

This is a training progression for one or more players to improve their ballhandling transtions from one or more crossovers into a spin crossover. It begins with a simple front cross into spin crossover and progresses to more challenging combinations and permutations as the player develops more confidence and dexterity. Alternating dominant and non-dominant hands are incorporated to facilitate movement across the court. See More

C2E Lateral Slide/Sprint/Slide..Grab/Dribble/Shoot Drill

Rick Allison 12/31/2014

This is a drill for improving quickness and agility in defensive lateral acceleration/deceleration, in combination with sprint dribbling into a pullup jumpshot. It is intended to emphasize game speed movements while incorporating an anaerobic conditioning element. With the addition of one or two change of the direction components to the attack dribble sequence, game speed ball handling may be added to the work load. See More

Basketball Play - Randolph Drill

Randolph Drill

Fabian McKenzie 08/27/2014

This is a tremendous early season conditioning drill. It is a very tough drill to do when you stress that the players get to the corners and take no shortcuts. We will do this for 1 minute on each side building up to 3-4 minutes a side. You can choose the dribble moves they use and also what type of finish you would like at the rim. Lastly, once they know the drill, when you want to run sprints, suicides, lines, etc. think of running this instead. Lots of handling, passing and finishing. See More

Basketball Play - Off the Ball 1 on 1 Drill

Off the Ball 1 on 1 Drill

Fabian McKenzie 07/04/2014

This is a good drill for players to work on getting open away from the ball. The defensive player must also work very hard to prevent 1 from making an easy catch. The passer must also work at delivering the pass on time and on target. You can play to a set score or a set number of stops. We will move spots on the floor to increase the difficulty for the offense or defense See More
