Basketball Play - UCLA Slice

UCLA Slice

Matt Hackenberg 03/31/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of a 1-2-2 alignment. This play has intelligent design. The down screens (not shown in the diagram) allow for clean wing catch. The UCLA screen allows the ball to be reversed cleanly. The slice screen is little on big, so the defense will have a hard time switching it. Basketball Play - Misdirection DHO Gate

Misdirection DHO Gate

Matt Hackenberg 01/26/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play for an elevater screen. The set starts in a 1-2-2 alignment and uses pin downs to get the wing entry, which is a DHO. The action starts flowing the other way while the gate screen is set up behind the play for the misdirection. Basketball Play - Zone Entry - Pinch & Pinch Opposite

Zone Entry - Pinch & Pinch Opposite

Brian Shea 01/11/2022

We use "PINCH" as an entry against any zone look. (2-3/ 1-2-2 /3-2). The play is the run the same way, on either side. Forwards will screen in hard on the top players in the zone defense. As this happens, both shooters come out of the corner and the PG chooses a side. With the top defender in the zone screened in, the pass to the wing should force the bottom forward to come out to play the pass or the guard will have an open look at the basket. In REGULAR PINCH, as soon as the ball hits a wing, the strong side forward will dive to the basket down the laneline. The weakside forward will flash behind to the elbow. In PINCH OPPOSITE, as soon as the ball hits a wing, the opposite forward will dive to the strongside short corner , the strong side forward will stay in the middle. See More

Basketball Play - 4-up

4-up

Rory Hamilton 08/01/2017

Press Break Alignment is with 3 man taking ball out-of-bounds and the 1 and 2 are at the elbows. The post players 4 and 5 are at half court. We use 4-up press break vs. any on the ball zone presses (1-2-2, 1-2-1-1, etc). It starts with our ball side post flashing to the FT line extended to receive a pass. On the catch, our point guard 1 screens away for the 2. After screening for the 2 the 1 sits in the middle of the floor and the inbounder steps in for ball reversal. Again the concepts are the same as we look to attack sideline, middle, and a throw over. On ball reversal back to the inbounder our press break slides are : middle flashes sideline and the sideline flashes middle. The 4 man sprints wide and looks to space the floor and be a deep threat. If the ball is passed middle, the receiver immediately looks to pass it opposite for a potential (2 vs. 1) against the defense. See More

Basketball Play - Stagger Post Option

Stagger Post Option

Matt Hackenberg 01/26/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play for an option for either a three-point shot or a post up. The post gets two looks in this action, one on each side of the court. The stagger screen happens on the back side once the ball is reversed. The post up combined with the stagger screen is a great option to keep the defense busy with two productive options.
