About This Play/Drill

This set is used by Coach John Brady at Arkansas State University. He uses it as his Transition Offense.  I included so options at the end and will post Part 2 soon.

  • Play begins with 1 passing to 2 and cuts to the opposite corner

  • 2 Looks at 4 in the post. If he can't enter the ball into the post he passes to 5

  • 4 defender should be on the high side. If not, we look high low. If the defender is on the high side, 3 will set a screen for 4. (See ZOOM next frame) 1 will replace 3.

  • 5 passes to 1 who looks at 4 in the post. 5 down screens for 3

  • Play begins with 1 passing to 2 and cuts to the opposite corner
  • 2 Looks at 4 in the post. If he can't enter the ball into the post he passes to 5
  • 4 defender should be on the high side. If not, we look high low. If the defender is on the high side, 3 will set a screen for 4. (See ZOOM next frame) 1 will replace 3.
  • 5 passes to 1 who looks at 4 in the post. 5 down screens for 3
  • If you don't get the shot for 3 or the post for 4, you have other options. 4 will go set a high ball screen 2 will down screen for 5 who will set a flare screen on 3
  • If you don't get the shot for 3 or the post for 4, you have other options. Option 2 2 sprints off 2 screens from 4 & 5 to ballside corner. 1 passes to 2, then receives a back pick from 4. 5 sets a back screen for 3 who "sales" the flare and makes a shallow cut to the high post
  • 5 dribbles at 3 who cuts backdoor. 5 passes to 1 as 3 cross-screens for 4 to post-up.
