About This Play/Drill

This diagram and embedded video is a simple set play to screen the back side forward and distract the middle defender in order to lob behind a 2-3 or 3-2 zone. We usually try this once or twice any time we play against zone teams. It works fairly well to steal an easy bucket. The toughest part of executing the action is the timing and accuracy of the pass. "Irish" vs 2-3 Zone

We shift the defense with an entry towards the player we are setting up the lob for. On the reversal, the weak side post should flash to draw the defender up while the weak side post screens in to create the opening for the lob
