About This Play/Drill

This is a drill that works on transition defense, communication, and effort.

A coach throws the ball to an offensive player on the baseline. The defensive player who is matched up with them must touch the baseline and sprint back on defense. The coach can also call out names so multiple players have to touch the baseline before they can defend. The key here is communication in transition defense. Here are some variations of this drill as well: 1. The defense cannot pick up the man that they are lined up with. 2. The defense has to pick up someone that is at least 2 people away.
