About This Play/Drill

I am not convinced this is a set play but I do love this action that led to the outcome. Marquette does a great job of creating triangles with defenders and gaps in their zone offense which puts the defense in decision situations where they will be wrong regardless of how they cover it.

  • 1 and 3 will dribble weave with 1 then filling the corner
  • On 3's reversal to 2, 5 will fill the open wing
  • As two reverses back to 3, 5 will loop back into the soft spot at the nail.
  • 4 will occupy the short corner and 2 will cut hard to the rim off of 5's catch.
4 and 3 are the keys to this action in my opinion.
3 occupies the top defender of the zone and if he takes away 2's cut they have a wide open 3, and if x3 takes away 2's cut then 4 has a lob or easy high low pass for a deep paint touch.
