About This Play/Drill

Among the many things the Brooklyn Nets did well in their Game 1 victory over the Toronto Raptors was this great quick hitter set dialed up by Coach Jason Kidd in the waning moments of the 2nd quarter.  With 1:13 on the clock in the 2nd, the Nets were able to get a wide open lay-up (Option 1) to increase their lead to 5 points. I added in the 3rd Option to create another scoring opportunity.

  • 1 to 5 at the elbow. 1 then UCLA cuts off 4. As 1 cuts, 2 slides up to the wing and 4 pops out to the top of the key. 1 continues to set a flex screen for 3 in the corner as 5 reverses to 4 near the top of the key.

  • 1 screens 3 into a flex cut to the rim.

1st Option: 4 passes to 3 for the lay-up, coming off the flex screen from 1.

5 then immediately sets a pin down screen for 1.

2nd Option: 4 passes to 1 on the wing for the shot.

  • 3rd Option: 4 dribble handoff's to 2. 2 and 4 now can play a 2-man game with 2 penetrating and 4 rolling or popping.
