  • 2/1 Backcourt trapping. We will allow the offense to get the basketball at different points on the floor. We want to give the offense a chance to advance the ball up the floor. The defenders want to keep the ball out of the middle of the floor and force the ball toward the sideline.
  • The most important thing is to get the ball stopped, stripped, deflected or stolen. If the defenders can get the offense to pick up the ball that gives defense a great chance to get a steal. If the offense picks up the ball that is as good as a steal.
  • if the offensive player can beat the defense without the ball getting touched by the defense then the defense has to stay on the floor and go again.
  • This drill is great to teach for late game situations when you have to get a steal or stop.
