About This Play/Drill

"Pistol Invert Flare" uses an invert wing ball screen, as a wrinkle to the traditional "Pistol Action." This is especially effective, if a team is denying the wing entry. I first saw this being ran by the Cleveland Cavs. 

  • Basketball Play - Transition: "Pistol Invert Flare"

  • 3 sets an invert wing ball screen for 1

    4 follows 1

  • 4 sets a screen for 3

    3 flares off of the screen

    *** On a pass to 3, 5 sets a step up ball screen

  • 4 sets a wing ball screen for 1

    3 spaces away from the ball screen

    1 turns the corner and reads the help defense
