About This Play/Drill

Players start the drill with the ball in the corner.

Good drill to improve ballhandling and catching in the post.

Helps players get in the habit of looking back into the post after coming off the baseline.

  • Basketball Play - Hit the post and move coming off the baseline
  • Basketball Play - Hit the post and move coming off the baseline

  • Coach starts drill with a pass to perimeter player. After the catch, perimeter dribbles down the operational area. Post player v-cuts across the lane to get open above the block.

  • Once ball goes into the post, perimeter will move without the ball to an open area. This puts player in a position to receive a pass from post. After throwing the ball out, post must move to the opposite side of the rim to be in position to rebound the shot.

  • Once defenders are on the floor perimeter player reads how defense reacts. After hitting the post the perimeter player takes the double down option away from the defense by moving to an open area.
